Lots of assumptions need to be made to get there. If we’d hired a dud and had five crappy years (which with Covid is reasonably likely), I doubt fans would have been thrilled with the decision to let Dino walk.
And I don’t think how Dino did at his next stop would matter - Marrone is viewed by 98% of the world as a terrible NFL head coach, yet we still have fans pining for the glory days of his one 8 win season over a decade ago and wanting him back.
Our fan base has some serious “creepy stalker” tendencies; once we fall in love with a guy we can never truly let him go - unless we got to make the call to break things off.
