as someone who has talked with coaches at other schools in other sports. recruiting is something very few people really understand. the recruiting sites dont actually review 75% or more the kids but they still get numbers and the kids are not ranked based on skill set for the system they are going to.

if Dino wants an oline with x,y,z that doesnt mean that he wont take a high ranked kid but it also means he may take a kid that thats lower ranked because x,y,z means more to him that the a,b,c that the recruiting sites value.

no doubt we would be better as a team if we had all 4-5 star kids across the board, but if you get the correct pieces the 3 stars can get it done

I have no clue how good this class is whatsoever but the fact that people think the star system actually equates to some sort of scientific rating system still cracks me up. Yes, everyone and their brother would kill for a dozen kids who had 4 stars next to their names and offers from all the top schools. Chances are those kids are really good players. That's fine. But the idea that they are scouring the entire nation and some international prospects and using a uniform rating system that has some sort of definitive, tangible value in ranking a kid's potential is certifiably insane.

And, to clarify, this is in no way, shape or form a defense of our recruiting or Dino. But judge from the results.

Exactly. I don't know what everyone expects out of a press conference like this. Yeah let's ask some difficult questions... I don't care about winning the press conference anyway.

If he talks about anything but the positive attributes of the kids that have signed on he’s an idiot, and Dino doesn’t strike me as an idiot.

He’s doesn’t owe anyone an answer for anything .

I couldn't agree more with the first sentence but the second one is harder to understand. I would certainly think that even a casual football could legitimately question the lack of depth at QB and what the plan is to try and build at least a little depth there. That seems fair to me and a coach should be able to offer a fairly decent answer to a fair question.

for those down on the class what are you down on?

I have no idea how good the class will be but i'm hopeful. Not signing a qb seems terrifying and almost unfathomable to me. But I also don't have a great feeling about Tommy going forward (not pretending to be a football savant but I feel like the issues are more 'feel' related and I think that's a tough thing to coach. Just my opinion on that.)

Jackson is gonna be the MVP of the NFL yet if you watch him play QB he is terrible at many of the things that make a QB, but great at the athletic stuff . His success is driven by an Oline that its crushing it in the blocking game. TD got awful blocking for half the yr, lets see where we are mid season because if the oline that we saw the last 5 games is what we get starting next season, he will spend much more of the time handing off and throwing when we want and much less scrambling and throwing in 3rd and long.
