Dino's Game 3 Press Conference for Albany: 10:55 AM

How can it be possible when Tommy is in year 5, Taj is in year 4, Sharod is in year 4, Queeley is in year 3, Jackson is in year 3? And if it is happening, how about scrapping the option routes?

This could explain though why Tommy holds the ball so long. He is reading the WR and not the D. Just read the D and let it fly. An incomplete pass is better than all those sacks he takes.

Field IQ. The players a few years ago obviously understood the offense better. Remember back we'd have the WR's patting their heads and nods and looks btw WRs and QBs. They knew what they were doing. Now it's a called play first read. And imo, the QB is just not good at reading the D and going with what the D is giving. That was supposed to be the whole point of the scheme. There are NO audibles now either if anyone hasn't noticed.

I'm also noticing lately on re-watch that players like Taj, when they know it's not coming to them take the play off. This didn't used to happen because anybody could get the ball.

But then again, who the heck knows what Gilbert is doing.

He’s not really giving GS a shot at all. Didn’t play until last series against Ohio. And then against Rutgers he puts him in backed up at his own 9. By his 3rd drive he started to look more comfortable and started to make some plays. THEN HE DOESNT TOUCH THE BALL THE REST OF THE GAME!!!! I believe he should have went in earlier. But at the very least he should have went in on that last possession at the end of the game when it was already decided.

Dont pretend this is a competition. Because it isn’t. Devito has not done anything positive since his redshirt freshman year when he came in against FSU and UNC when they had no tape on him. He was fantastic. He has completely regressed since those games and is not a competent college QB.
amen brother preach it. Whatever the "it" factor is in a qb meaning ability to improvise and create he is lacking with the lack of appropriate situational awareness and field vision he struggles with. And he's limited by his small size which contributes to this. Whatever they list him as is BS, much smaller and shorter which further hinders him in these regards and makes him injury prone.

Great great kid by all accounts but as long as they keep proving the insanity adage of expecting a different result by doing the same thing (against power 5 competition that is and yes some of it is from a OL and WR corp lacking somewhat which makes the above all the more important), regardless it's gonna be a long season.

And that means major frustration continues along with a losing season, and it further means rather than sit there and watch the insanity, I'll be leaving my seat frequently aimlessly roaming checking out all parts of the new and improved dome like I did for most of the fourth quarter this past saturday!

It’s not that tough. I’m trying to figure what this commitment is that he made to Devito.
Why am I thinking of Meatloaf "SO NOW I'M PRAYING FOR THE END OF TIME, TO HURRY UP AND ARRIVE. 'CAUSE IF I HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER MINUTE WITH YOU, I DON'T THINK THAT I CAN REALLY SURVIVE. I'LL NEVER BREAK MY PROMISE OR FORGET MY VOW, BUT GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT I COULD DO RIGHT NOW"

Not sure if I watched it with fury in my eyes which clouded my judgement but after watching TD's postgame press conference - I was even more ready for him to be benched. He brought up Taj's fumble numerous times and it was pulling teeth for him to accept ownership. Wasn't a great representation albeit it was after a loss to his hometown team.

You'd think with a guy like Tucker, we could run a couple of play action sweeps to the left, then roll Tommy out to the right and give him plenty of time to survey the field.

Seems like we never do it.

Maybe we're just saving it for Albany and didn't want to show it yet.

Dino did want to put anything on tape for Albany to review, now comes the kitchen sink

7-8-87 before Shrader went in. Two drives that were cut short by terrible calls that likely cost us scores. You could make the case that by putting Shrader in he disrupted DeVito's rhythm to the detriment of the offense.

My criticism of Tommy is that he is almost too cerebral and not instinctive enough. Leans on execution and almost plays not to lose rather than take risks necessary to win. Is that on the kid or the coaching?

My favorite Dino post game quote was when asked about Garrett Williams potential injury. Any number of ways to not have to answer that, but he went with 'that would give an advantage to our next opponent'

It's Albany.

For a guy that I have really liked the past 5 years and still do, he really is beginning to crack with some of this stuff, He's just getting more paranoid and absurd with this stuff and the team just keeps getting worse. I just feel like most of us are hoping for a miracle which would equate to 6 wins. It's going to take that, IMO. Still hoping for it though and i am onto win the next 2 and go from there. The Liberty game will be very difficult with this offense because they are going to score some points

I feel like things certainly can get better. But it's getting harder to imagine that they actually will. We'll see though. The one thing that seems consistent with this offense its ability to make mistakes.

Liberty only put up 21 vs Troy. Just need to make sure the D doesn't start getting discouraged.

And the special teams have be something above atrocious.

The lack of play action is baffling.

Anyone ask him why Max Mang played 8 snaps. Since we don’t throw to the TEs why is Benson playing? When we go 4 wide can one of the big WRs play please. Find a package for Alford please. Queeley plays the whole game and gets open once a game. The one time he was open Devito threw it into the stands.

How about a seam route down the middle to a 6-7 target? Call me crazy

I didn't watch it but just from the recap by Extreme its the same old same old. Program has become stagnant and has regressed badly since 2018. There is zero sense of urgency and in year six Babers still hasn't been able to recruit an upper level QB or really a WR save for Taj when he is on. Same issues year after year, nothing is going to change. The young WR's aren't going to play, were not going to throw to the middle of the field, clock management and play calling will continue to be horrific, TE position will continue to be mismanaged etc.

It is very tough to imagine things getting much better as the season progresses which is a damn shame.
