Dino's Game 3 Press Conference for Albany: 10:55 AM

This is one the reasons why White makes sense. You don't have to give him a huge, long-term contract. Just a respectable one for a few years and give him a chance to see what he has.

White would need to prove himself the rest of the year. Ohio and Rutgers are offensively challenged. I thought vs Duke and Liberty he was garbage last year but he was good in the other 9 games. The real test will be our last 9 games this year. Eight of those nine games the opposing coaches have seen how White plays their team. If his D holds up the 2nd tome around, then by all means.

You're underestimating how much 5% compounded annually on a starting salary of 3.1M is. I'm not sure how much his base salary increases year over year, but 5% seemed like a conservative estimate.

It's quite a bit higher than 3.1M right now.

Year 1: 3,100,000
Year 2: 3,100,000*1.05=3,255,000
Year 3: 3,255,000*1.05=3,471,000
Year 4: 3,471,000*1.05=3,588,638
Year 5: 3,588,638*1.05=3,768,000

Assuming Dino needs to be paid out the final 2 years of his base salary contract he's owed 7.3 million. Add in another 1-1.5 for assistants and you're at 8.3-8.8 million.

Math aside, you came up with 5, I said 9, both are really large figures for the SUAD. Unless the wheels fall off and we only win 1 more game the rest of the season I'm not sure we'll see ADJW fire Dino this year, just do to the buyout amount and also just coming out of a pandemic. We've proven year after year, decision after decision that we're not a football school, and aren't going to spend like the big boys.

How much is Syracuse losing by losing their season ticket holders and and only selling 20k tickets?

Have to weigh the math there now that he only has 2 years left

The potential ticket sales will never even it out when you may lose 5K sth's at $125-$200 per a season ticket and a couple thousand game tickets.

I'm curious to why people are clamoring for a mostly unproven White to run the whole program? Our d has generally folded like a cheap tent against competent and good offenses. Rutgers and Ohio do not have competent or good offenses.

I see what you mean, thanks for the breakdown. Dino can collect his monthly paycheck for the next 2.5 years if he wants, but usually a lumpsum buyout happens, then he can find (and get paid) for another job. These buyouts are typically 50-70% of what's left on contact. So they probably cut a deal for 4-5 million. Assistants are year to year, and not much of a concern in the grand scheme of things. SUAD can easily find 4-5M to can their coach that is currently #1 on the coaches hot seat list. You can't ignore that, if you do, then the college football world believes you have truly have given up on football.

WAIT ! did i just hear that dino babers has accepted the USC coaching job ?

...ok let me take another toke. hey it's all legal. (serve them right for unloading dr. gross on us.)
