Babers on what he sees out of #Duke, this weekend's opponent at the Dome: "David Cutcliffe is a lot more involved in what's going on. He's one of the sharpest coaches I've ever been around. They looked like a totally different team Saturday night against Virginia Tech."
Babers on trusting the running game since Sean Tucker's breakout game vs. Georgia Tech: "Sean's slowly coming along. We think we have a lot of good backs. One guy gets an opportunity and it's like 'whoaaaa'. He showed off Saturday."
Babers on trying to get back into the swing of things after the bye week: "It's an advantage and a disadvantage. We needed a week off. It gives us an opportunity to grow the underbelly and rest the starters. We got after it a bit in practice, though."
Babers on Andre Cisco's status for this week: "Andre suffered a lower body injury during pregame warmups, which I've never seen in my career. I've seen him everyday, so he's been smiling and excited. So, we'll see."
Babers on #Duke turning the ball over at an alarming rate: "We were averaging 7 sacks a game and then the last one we averaged one. Coach Cutcliffe is an amazing coach. He's been around. He's not going to allow their turnovers to continuously happen. I expect that to be cured."
Babers on getting some O-linemen back from injuries: "There isn't a timetable for some of those guys to come back. We've got open arms waiting for those guys to come back. We need them. When they can come back, they'll need to get in game shape."
Babers on why injuries pop up in clusters and how he's recruiting to mitigate the injury issues: "We've changed some things in recruiting. I think there's been some mishaps. There have definitely been some happenings. It's a little frustrating but it's part of the deal."
Babers on the QB battle between Tommy DeVito and Rex Culpepper moving forward: "The Padres are playing the Dodgers in baseball. When was the last time the Padres went on a playoff run? I think they used 9 pitchers to get into the playoffs. We're going to be like the Padres."
Babers on Airon Servais making his 40th straight start last week on the O-line: "Airon's one of the leaders of our unit. You don't talk to him like a student-athlete. You speak to him like he's a graduate assistant coach. He's turned into a man and he acts that way."
Babers on why some ACC teams have more interceptions that touchdown passes this season: "I do see that improving as the season goes on. I really believe it goes back to summer workouts. QB's, WR's and RB's can get a lot done during the summer, but that didn't happen in 2020."
Babers on how to change the red zone inefficiency in recent years: "The biggest thing with the red zone is that the defense has the advantage because they have less field to cover. We have to be able to run the football and block up front."
Babers on Eric Coley's absence from the lineup in recent weeks: "Obviously, he's got an owie."
Babers on why so many freshmen have had so much success for the Orange this season: "Probably injuries, first and foremost. When there isn't a spring/summer camp or train through the zoom calls, it's allowed some guys with athletic ability to make some major moves."
Babers on how DeVito was only sacked once vs. Georgia Tech: "I thought Tommy did a fantastic job of throwing the ball down the field while also blocking up front."
Babers on #Duke QB Chase Brice and his performance with #Clemson in 2018 to come back and beat #Syracuse: "You really had to bring that up? He found a way to get it done. Scrappy kid. He's probably never going to have to buy a hamburger or milkshake in Clemson, South Carolina."
