Dino's NSD Presser at Noon today

Syracuse Football @syrfootball
Dino Babers' February signing day news conference set to start at noon.

Dino: We operated 2 coaches short on the recruiting trail.

Dino: We did a thorough search for QB. We wanted QBs with physical abilities to help us.

Dino on new OC Sterlin Gilbert: We're really different, but we know where we're coming from. It's a give-and-take relationship. He knows some of the current. I'm excited he's here. I'm excited for the quarterbacks.

Dino: Gilbert had input in the two QB signees today.

Dino Babers "cannot confirm or deny" the hiring of Tony White as Defensive Coordinator. <wink><wink>

Dino on the 3-3-5 defense: It's different. It's aggressive. It seems in the years I've been here the fan base appreciates aggressiveness on defense.

Dino on Zach Arnett: He doesn't work here. He's not one of my guys. It's not fair for me to comment on him.

Dino on Trishton Jackson declaring for NFL: He felt like this was his time. We wished we had him another year but we wish him the best.

Dino on 2 QB signees: I thought they were really good on the board.

is it just a black screen for everyone else or is it just me?

Surprised nobody asked about Kim McCloud. He wasn't going to answer anything to do with White because the SUAD hasn't announced it yet but he could address the rumors that McCloud is gone.

Are the two missing coaches Ward and Martin or Ward and McCloud? If it's McCloud, we have one slot to fill. If it's not, I'm assuming that White will coach the LBs.

they didn't have a defensive coordinator on the road and they didn't have McCloud's replacement on the road. Martin was on the road but it sounds like he will not be one of the 10 staff members going forward. so, with White being hired, we still have one slot open(or it's filled and not announced)

what are the different ideologies he is referencing re: Gilbert? Seems like an unusual thing to highlight right after you hire someone.

Maybe we’ll see more action in the middle of the field in the passing game and more variety in the running game. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. I like that he mentioned that though. I’ve always thought of DB as semi-bullheaded, which you have to be at times if you’re in charge. But he clearly is open to some differences in offensive philosophy and it’ll be fun to see how translates in the playcalling.
