If he is still here next year and the offense continues to produce at the same rate without McCord it probably means we had a much more balanced pass/run attack. Probably has a great shot at a P4 HC opening opportunity.

Since this is an assistant leaving for a possible job thread I know it's slightly off topic but I saw improvement in a lot of the position coaches players as the year went on and yes, even the Special teams improved.

Good management lets their staff seek growth opportunities. It's a great problem to have if we have coordinators get poached. Opens up avenues that weren't there before. Fran's pitch turns into, "you take a coordinator job on my staff and I'll set you up for your HC opportunity."

Don’t think he’s an alum. I believe he transferred to PSU, where he grew up. Played there with former HS teammate and Nebraska HC Rhule (with Schiano on staff). Rhule is how he met Fran Brown.

Being an assistant is low rent vs being top dude. I mean being OC at Clemson is top tier but these guys should try and become HC no matter where

If they run programs that are improving they’ll get better jobs. Marrone never won more than 8 and he was identified as a talent
