Dome Atmosphere

How was it yesterday? Are they making improvements? Roger Needham thinks so...

Please no team/coaching comments...I wanna here about the fan things being done.
I really like the look of the new ribbon board that was installed on the facing of the lower deck in the western end zone area. They haven't installed a similar one on the eastern side yet, which is a shame.

They sold almost all the open seats in the middle to upper areas of sections 301/302 as part of Homecoming. These are normally empty. It was nice to have people nearby, even if most of them were not fanatics.

They were really pushing a hashtag. I think it is new. It might have been #orangezone. Whatever it was, it was up on the main ribbon boards a lot. Still a lot of ribbon time given to posting of inane tweets from the twitter people. What a waste.

Didn't notice any improvements on the out of town scores or statistics front. Though they use the ribbon boards for non-advertising purposes so much I rarely look at them anymore. Could be wrong. They used to announce out of town scores for conference games and games against rivalry schools. That remains in cobwebs. There is still no place where out of town scores are constantly shown, like they used to do before Dr Gross came on board. I want a place on a ribbon board dedicated to out of town scores and another place dedicated to real time statistics. Let's use the technology to improve the fan experience.

They didn't show the controversial replays. Again. Very disappointing and short sighted. Why should fans that stay home have better access to this than the fans that go to the games?

The ridiculous DJ is still there but I think his role has been reduced. Still tried a cheerleader driven cheer contest that failed miserably, as they always do.

I think they might be playing a little less canned music and I think the number of long, in your face advertisements read by the PA person might have been cut down a little.

The guy chosen to try a FG was allowed to kick from the 25 and actually made it. Most have struggled to reach the goal line.

The PA guy still talks too much and continues to make a couple major gaffes every game. I don't know if it is Mr Excitement (based on the quality and quantity of the announcements, I suspect it is), but whoever it is needs to be replaced or at least have their dosage of medication changed.

Bring back Carl Elierberg! I want out of town scores on the ribbon board. I don't want to look them up on my phone. I don't want to watch tweets. I hate tweets

tom, isn't it a rule they cant show replays on the video boards? I used to work in the sound booth. one game, van chew scored a td (wild over the shoulder catch) I believe against pitt. it was replayed. I was positioned right next to the replay guys through glass. I could see them watching the tape and knew it was a td. I signaled same to my friends in the student section which was situated in front of our box. I was scolded. the next game, they had black construction paper taped onto my glass so I couldn't see the videos.

I don't think so. They show replays all the time. Unfortunately, the only ones they usually don't show are the controversial plays that go against Syracuse. I believe this is because someone long ago thought doing this could lead to riots and mass hysteria.

The SU athletic department needs to understand they are competing against watching games in fan's houses, where most have big screen TVs that do show all the replays. They also should be smart enough to know showing a controversial call isn't going to lead to bloodshed or dead bodies. The fanbase can handle it.

I wonder why they only added one more ribbon board? Anyone know if they plan on putting more up? I bet that it looks uneven now. The OCD in me, is starting to stir.

This is completely correct. There is absolutely no rule that exists prohibiting venues from showing controversial replays. SEC video boards always show the controversial replays. We just decided that the world will end if the fan who actually chose to attend the game gets the same freaking experience as the guy who's watching from his couch. Its a joke. Its 2015. Show ALL replays.

sorry, i meant challenged plays. now that i know what you are talking about, i dont believe you were narrowing the replays to challenges. obviously, they can show replays and should show replays of controversial plays. thats dumb they dont.

It is completely legal to show challenges.

You never watched a game with me, wait... you have.

i love how they put up the new flatscreens in the corners only to keep the same advertisement on it the entire time...its basically a painted sign.

No out of town scores. Everything else was ok I guess.
Lack of out-of-town scores. But remember--when you're consistently playing the first game of the day most every Saturday, there aren't a lot of other scores to report.
