Drew Allen isn't coming here as we already have 3 QB's on the roster and 2 more inbound. Long isn't coming until 2014. Next year after Loeb graduates we will still have 5 QB's unless there is a position change and that is not counting Broyld if he is given a shot. Hunt, Kinder, Kimble, Wilson, Long, Broyld and they are still recruiting another. Like I said, he isn't coming here.
You yourself are expecting the 2 incoming frosh to redshirt - so them being on the roster is irrelevant. Broyld is absolutely not a viable option at QB this season, if ever. We have 3 QB's on the roster currently that are going to compete, and Allen would be #4. The idea of QB's splitting time based on styles is already being thrown around by the staff. Hunt/Kinder are definitely more the dual threat style and Loeb more the pro-style similar to Nassib. We have no other legit Pro Style QB's on the roster (even both the frosh appear to be the dual threat type) and it would seem logical that if we're potentially going to run two styles for different looks that we'd at least want 2 QB's for each style.
Besides, I'm sure he's not visiting Syracuse just to see lovely Syracuse, NY.
i don't even think a kid from texas would know what lacrosse is.
It's funny to me that by far our most highly regarded high school football player at Syracuse plays lacrosse.Brandon Mullins was a 5 star LB from Texas and chose lax @ SU instead.
Coppell linebacker Brandon Mullins was named the Associated Press defensive player of the year for 5A. He finished with 133 tackles and had scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Christian.
He instead will play lacrosse as a longstick midfielder at Syracuse

A few things/questions I guess for you.
I said "probably" will red-shirt meaning that they most likely will unless they can contribute right away or they blow away the competition and are ready to start. Which I highly doubt by the way.
Are we going to run a pro-style offense? Most likely we won't, then why bring in another pro-style QB?
How many QB's do we need, more than 3? Especially if the one we bring in doesn't fit the system and the general trend of the offense. If we actually run 2 different styles of offense and each QB has a certain package to his skill-set, we will be the easiest team in the country to game plan for and will get destroyed.
I don't think honestly that we will be utilizing more than one QB very much. Meaning that one guy is the starter and use another for wildcat like Broyld for 4-6 snaps a game. I think the "many QB" statement is one said publicly to motivate the players to step up and have one separate themselves from the pack.
I'm sure Drew was told there's a great opportunity - nothing more nothing less.
And we won't be starting a true freshman next year no matter what.[/quote
Based on what? Kimble ran hurry up in high school. Who knows if he starts or not.
It's one guy that will be here for one year.
You're analyzing this like we have 6 scholarship QB's on the roster with 3 or more years of eligibility left and we don't. I don't see how a little extra insurance at the most important position on the team is so detrimental.
Ironically Allen would be our most experienced QB if he did come here.
For the 2013 season, we will have 5 scholarship QB's on the roster and Broyld to run the wildcat or whatever we are going to call it. I am not "analyzing" anything, do the math. We have 3 now and 2 coming in the fall=5.
Hunt- redshirt sophmore = 3 years including this one
Loeb- Redshirt senior=1 year left
Kinder- Redshirt junior= 2 years left
Wilson- 4 years
Kimble- 4 years
Allen will be the most experienced by about 10 snaps, great. I would rather they bring in the freshman from Florida Akeem Jones than Allen.
Keep in mind that Allen has 4 more visits to take also.
What part of being a viable option to be a full-time QB next season are you not grasping? Kimble and Wilson might as well be punters on the roster next season because they're not seeing the field as QB's, neither one is close to being ready. It doesn't matter if they're on the roster or not, they're not capable of playing at that position if needed next season. And Broyld will see the field about 1% of the time as a QB.
The fact that the staff would even entertain bringing in a 1 year QB should tell you all you need to know about our QB depth for next season. If they felt Wilson or Kimble were viable options there would be no need for Allen. Clearly they don't.
Good post. The funny thing is that Kimble is actually a really good punter. What part of being a viable option to be a full-time QB next season are you not grasping? Wuh???? SU's best defender is from Texas. My son played 3 years down here in Texas after he got tired of football. There's at least one youth program down here that goes up to New York for tournies annually and does quite well.
I originally said it because its something to do while on campus. Check out the atmosphere, etc. isn't that the point of a campus visit?ok apparently they know what a lacrosse stick is in texas. still my point is i highly doubt a majority of football recruits would care one bit to attend a lacrosse game
Where in any of your posts or responses did you use the words viable option? For that matter, why would he be more of a "viable option" than the 3 guys already on the roster? Is he physically more gifted, smarter or had more experience in the system that we will be running?
That they are looking at a transfer QB tells me that they have roster spots to fill and that they may need more competition. He is a 1 to play 1 guy and will be behind everybody in the learning curve for the offense as they will all have spring practice in the system and he won't.
We are bringing in 3 JUCO linebackers, does that tell you that they think our linebackers stink? No, it tells you we might need some competition at that position that may develop into players we can use behind the guys we have already.
It's all a moot point anyway, he won't be coming here.
I would say a 1 for 1 QB offer says much more about the coaches' evaluation of their position than a 1 for 1 LB offer does.
I believe he has a number of other visits to go on.I take it that since we have not heard anything that means he is not coming here.
