Dungey...

1. He was no where near him when he threw the ball
2. He plants his feet and launches at Dungey with his helmet
3. He pushes threw with his hands/fists after hitting Dungey in the head
4. Tackler number one pulls on Dungey's leg when he is down
5. #44 snaps his leg back at Dungey's face when they are on the ground

No way these "random" events all happened on the same play to our best offensive player that was crushing them all day. CMU is classless and so is the coach, they should be ashamed for what they did.

So glad we won (no matter the circumstances). If we had lost this game, it would have been difficult to sleep/work/procreate for a while. Would have chapped my ass to no end to have CMU "rewarded" for their Chicago-style sportsmanship.

At the game so was watching the TD not the Hit. Just watched it and that is one of the dirtyest hits Ive seen that kid should be suspended. You're teammate has him by the leg taking him down the ball is out and you take two steps lower your helmet and rocket yourself at the guy who is held up by your teammate.

The football play there is to get your hands up on the throw or wrap up to clean up the teammate's takle.

DIRTY... Like Bountygate DIRTY.

Here's my thing: if it IS a concussion, it came at the best possible time. We almost certainly aren't going to beat LSU next week with or without Dungey, and then we have a bye week following the LSU game. So basically, we have two weeks for him to recover.

True.

But yesterday was a huge missed opportunity in terms of Dungey getting some developmental PT. At this stage of his learning curve, the game reps are invaluable.

Really hope he isn't seriously hurt, long term. That hit was savage. Absolutely brutal.

I saw that and it happened again in the 4th also. Guy was on the ground play over and the kid came in head first at the ball carrier.
It was outrageous that there wasn't a flag on that

The ankle twist should end any doubt that these players were ordered to take out Dungey.
Absolutely wholeheartedly agree. These guys were instructed to take out #2. Period. At any cost. 44 walks off as if being scolded for something he knew he did wrong. No objection. No shock. CMU coaches are running around more upbeat and smiles right after that play - this after losing their defensive player for the entire game?

Look, in a court of law, certainly reasonable doubt. In reality, we all know what really happened. 44 does, 2 does, CMU does, and so does SS. CMU is dirty, and we have to move on. Best way to show them they had no impact on us is to get Dungey back and win on the field. Then never schedule those bottom feeders ever again.

Let's Go Orange!!!

Look at this picture. Ball is out, 44 has his head up looking right at Dungey. Fvck that.
This photo needs to be emailed to both athletic departments, and potentially the NCAA (along with the video). Tells the whole tale. He's not a dirty player? Well, if he was under orders, perhaps not.

Anonymous people tweeting out junk on social media is the same thing as someone deliberately targeting a player and doing physical harm. .Right.

I will say this ... I don't agree with the vile things being said about his family ... of course if the NCAA were to step in and take preventative measures things like this wouldn't happen. Quite frankly the fact that the media isn't looking at the behavior/tactics of CMU are also very disturbing ...

I'm not the "Steve Hamilton" who tweeted that stuff. Some pretty funny stuff, though. Sure was thinking it...

I'm guessing Dungey sits out the LSU game and is good to go after the bye week. USF and UVA are two huge games on the march to bowl eligibility.

He's a CMU grad or student FYI that tweeted that. So 4 dumb Syracuse fans posted vile junk, go to Syracuse.com and you can find another 30-40 that do the same thing. Every fanbase has people like this. Including CMU's.

And the CMU player's twitter and email address are both public domain - that isn't an offense to tweet that out. You can find it in their student directory that is published online.

Hate to say it as a fan, but even if he is technically "cleared" to go, if I was SS looking at the bigger picture for both the rest of this season and the future, they should probably sit Dungey and be absolutely sure he's good to go for USF.

Cheers,
Neil

With this thinking, we may as well just sit him against FSU and Clemson as well. If he is cleared to go and is 100%, there's absolutely no reason to sit him.

Happens with every fan base, including this one.
Every fan base looks through their own tinted glasses. But--tell me the last time you saw an SU player in any sport deliver such a dirty blow?

My answer--Bill Smith leading with a forearm to a Cornell shooter circa 1970. And the one yesterday was even more vicious.

There ought to be additional penalties for the CMU player.

As a fan, I want to see him play. Ish could have played more in the game than he did yesterday since even SS said he wasn't medically prevented from re-entering the game. They just didn't want to risk it.

With our OL play Dungey could be knocked unconscious by USF, after all they have a much better D than CMU. My point had more to do with timing. Sit LSU and then there is the bye-week and hope for the best the rest of the season. Injuries can occur against even FCS opponents, see Hunt this season.

Cheers,
Neil

If he's healthy, you can't sit him.

I was telling my wife before the Dungey play that they were dirty. Earlier in the game Ron Thompson is making a tackle downfield and a lineman for cmu comes and dives into Thompsons back not sure if it was a spear but I thought so at the time. There were other questionable hits.

That whole article ignores the facts when you put the still photos and video together. No normal person can say he didn't line himself up and intentionally went for the kill. I don't condone death threats of course, but unless I missed them or they got deleted, I don't see them. I see a bunch of trash talking. Big whoop compared to want their kid do. What if he had fractured a couple of vertebrae in Dungeys neck?

I will be very disappointed in SU and the ACC if they don't push this further with CMU and the NCAA. The kid should be suspended for some number of games. He got ejected like other players did this weekend for targeting, but this one is clearly more violent and more intentionally considering where he was when the ball was thrown. And the other actions of him and their other player tells me they were instructed to take the QB out if given the chance.

The play in question the CMU olineman dove at thompsons knees as he was trailing 10 yards behind the play. Was completely dirty and coulda really injured Ron. He did get called for a chop block but still completely unnecessary considering the RB was already down the field.

Sounds like the hit Antwaune Ponds took in the '97 Tulane game.

Hunt injury was not a football injury, he popped his Achilles running in the open field, could have just as easily have happened playing Tennis.
