Eddie Lampkin

I think the coaches fell in love with his ncaa tournament last year.. he was huge when they beat the gators..
just like the coaches fell in love with McLeod's one good game at FSU that came against us.

not sure if there is a stat for dunks allowed per game but he surely leads the nation. he's a big dude but doesn't seem to grasp the concept that it's his job to mix it up and protect the paint. instead we see him floating around out top of the circle guarding no-one and oblivious to the dunkathon behind him. he's averaging 27 mpg and yet commits less than 2 fouls per ? that's 2 hammertimes he leaves on the table. and while i as much as anyone appreciate the flashy passes his assists/TO ratio is 2/2. and the competition is about to get much bigger , much quicker and much more skilled.
yet seriously we're paying this dude $$$ ? do your damn job. that's right . it's your JOB.

To be clear, I'm not trying to body shame Eddie. I'm not in to that. This is solely about asking what happened over the last few months with his conditioning, which appears is negatively impacting his play. While watching him last night against Louisville, I noticed more than I have before. Maybe it's the same as earlier in the season but he just looks even more out of shape. Check this pic out that is from April of 2024 I believe...

It kinda pisses me off to be honest. I mean this is a guy who came back a second time to get more money from Syracuse. This is also a guy who decided to wear #44. How about doing your part, big guy.

The #1 jersey is a display model that all the recruits wear for their photo shoots.

It's probably 2 sizes to small for Eddie. That's why he looks svelte.

We know he has a back injury and has been wearing a brace. He was barely even going through warmups earlier in the season. I'm no longer defending bringing the guy in, but people want to jump to him being basically a garbage human being who allowed himself to get out of shape, and it is far more likely that his health is holding him back. There would at least some subtle hostility towards him from the staff and his fellow players if he got out of shape over literally nothing except his own laziness. I have seen none of that.

Fair enough. I forgot about his back injury. That said, I don't think anyone is acting like he's a garbage human being. That's a bit much.

If people actually think he got out of shape due to nothing but his own laziness, that is a pretty big accusation about the guy's character. Call it whatever you want. I would certainly not think highly of the guy if there was some evidence that he got to this point just by slacking off and pigging out. Lots of people here are have suggested that. I still do not buy it.

Eddie had 5 blocks last season. If you want to play the high pressure man to man defense that Red touted, you can't bring in a non athletic big who can't help off his man and rim protect.
Absolutely, I don't understand the thought process of bringing in Eddie when your playing style is fast offense and high pressure defense.

That first pic is a promotional thing. There’s this thing called Photoshop.

I don’t know if he can’t help but he sure won’t help.Plenty of opportunities for him to give a little help at the rim but he refuses every single time to lend a hand.

He looks so scared considering he’s towering over and way heavier than Catherine and Audrey combined

I'll probably get mugged for this on here but i don't care, those pictures are an indictment on the program, and possibly on Eddie too.
