Just a guy trying to help his community anyway he canA high school girls JV team? He's in his mid thirties; what am I missing?
Maybe he sees a path to becoming the SU women’s basketball head coach or an assistant on the women’s team.A high school girls JV team? He's in his mid thirties; what am I missing?
Maybe even the 3rd assistant when Autry leaves for a MAC or A10 job? My guess is Red has a point guard in mind for his 1st recruiting target.Maybe he sees a path to becoming the SU women’s basketball head coach or an assistant on the women’s team.
I don't understand how we can't find a spot for him on JABs staff. The sweat sweeper kids at the dome gotta make more than the JV girls coach at Liverpool
I don't get how he can't just be given some made up title like the 30 "Analysts" that SEC football schools have. Seems like a clear asset to the program.Ok - which of the other assistant coaches do you can, to hire Devo?
Red,? Griff? GMac?
You only get 1 HC & 3 Assistants.
There are no openings at the table.
He did work on staff as Assistant S&C Coach for a while, but that may have been more of a Grad Assistant-level gig.
Most of those former head coaches that take those positions are getting paid by their previous schools and don't get a salary. And, a school can hire as many unpaid "analysts" as they want. I am sure Eric requires a salary.I don't get how he can't just be given some made up title like the 30 "Analysts" that SEC football schools have. Seems like a clear asset to the program.

I'm not sure that's accurate. Most of them are getting paid quite well. I saw a news piece (I think 60 Minutes) several years ago on Bama's "consultants", a few were former NFL head coaches. They weren't coaches, per se, rather they were paid consultants. They had unofficial offices in a building adjacent to the football building. They attended practices and meetings and watched home games from a different box than the OC/DC. They just weren't allowed to communicate during the games or travel with the team. Most of those former head coaches that take those positions are getting paid by their previous schools and don't get a salary. I wouldn't be surprised if I am wrong. I thought that those were positions they took so that they could stay in the game while they still got the millions of dollars they were still owed from their previous job. So, if they are getting a salary on top of it, because they are taking consultant positions and not actual coaching positions, then wow, what a great deal. Having Eric as a paid consultant, where he can participate in practices and maybe even communicate with some recruits, but not travel with the team or be on the bench during games, that would be great.I'm not sure that's accurate. I was assuming he lived in the district - couldn't remember how old his children were. His daughter will be on the team in a couple years.
I know Liverpool is one of the bigger schools but I have to wonder, with Eric's bloodlines, if she'd have a chance to skip JV and make varsity. His daughter will be on the team in a couple years.
I think those guys are making A LOT of money. Name him recruiting coordinator or whatever. Need to be at the forefront of pushing boundaries. Not just sitting back and complaining about what others are doing. Most of those former head coaches that take those positions are getting paid by their previous schools and don't get a salary. You don’t have to be a teacher there. No teacher’s Union. This is probably a last minute favor since they can't find a teacher that wants to coach the team. Great job here by ED stepping up and helping his community!
??You don’t have to be a teacher there. No teacher’s Union.
Union contracts in many public school districts normally set the rules for criteria on naming coaches. Some districts require certified teachers to be a coach (either employed inside or outside the specific school district). Private schools can also have a teacher as their coach but there is normally no requirement to require it, so most coaches at private schools have jobs outside the school.??
