Eric Dungey Heisman Watch

Yes I did.

But the point stands... What sort of eye popping numbers are we talking about if he's sitting on the bench for the rest of the season injured?

Given his injury history, this heisman convo is silly...

Keeping him healthy is priority 1... Anything else is gravy.
The question was, and I'm paraphrasing, how many wins do we need for Dungey to stay in the Heisman conversation. I said 8 with the eye popping numbers he could put up. I directly responded to the question being asked.

You literally said, "Screw the heisman." If that isn't disregarding the question being posed and, therefore, changing the conversation, I don't know what is.

No intelligent coach is going to risk injury to his most important player by leaving him in the game just to inflate his numbers, however, he will be expected to play the vast majority of the time because we're not going to blow most teams out. That will likely result in eye popping numbers former QBs like McNabb didn't have the opportunity to pit up. So stop being a contrary idiot and have some fun addressing the OP or ignore the conversation.

To me, if he gets invited to NYC for the Heisman, Syracuse will have already won. Barring a special season where he beats Clemson and we're in the ACC Championship/Playoff discussion, I really don't think he has a snowball's chance in hell to win it.

However, the schedule is set up for us to have a special season if we can get the snowball moving downhill. First time decades where it sets up for us in a way where it's not an excuse.

Yes, I am saying it's the wrong question and it's cart before horse.

I counter that the correct question is: "Can Dungey survive an entire season without season-ending injury?"

Based on his predilection for reckless running and how his seasons have ended in his past years, it is a very valid question.

If you don't like that line of thought, sorry, but I really don't care.

If you feel the need to lecture me on how to post on a football forum and call me names, that is your prerogative.

I think the bigger feat will be trying to get enough wins and stats and exciting plays and big performances in big games just to get to NYC.

Tua & Will Grier look like early locks (oxymoron I know) but there are usually 4-6 that go to NYC no?

Guys like Dillon, Haskins, and other top ten candidates are just fighting to get to NYC imo

Great. That's not what this thread was about. Start a new one. It's not like that hasn't already been discussed ad nauseum on here.

Manziel had a monster year the season he won. That Alabama game defined his legacy at the collegiate level. Overall, he threw for 3,400 yards with 24 TDs and ran for 1,181 yards with 19 TDs. Dungey will need a god level like year to be invited to New York. Upsetting Clemson at Death Valley will help a lot.

As paranoid as I am passionate, I hope Dungey completes the season and makes 1st/2nd Team all-ACC.

His playing style has not changed (nor should or will it I suppose) and he’s played in as many November games as I have.

I’d trade any Heisman hopes for a gelling OL that helps Strick/Neal get 4-5 yards a clip.

Everytime a player steps on the field there is a strong chance of injury due to the physical contact nature of the sport. In college football, quarterbacks run the ball quite a bit. Most college offences are designed with QB plays, it isn't just when passing breaks down. Different people run with different styles, you can't change that without changing the players game entirely. Things happen fast during live action and instincts kick in, so it will not change. And actually, the point your making about his running is exactly why ED should win the Heisman. He has to do it all himself because he doesn't have an effective running game to work with that keeps the defense off balance and opens up passing. Now, why after 3 years Dino doesn't have a great back is another question. This failing forces ED to run to make up for the other weak players.

Righto. As if him staying healthy (or not) has zero impact if he can win the heisman and what sort of stats he can muster...

Any other sterling logic you want to share or posting guidelines you need me to follow from your personal checklist?

I want to be clear on what nonsense I need to ignore going forward.

U serious? Mcnabb never even sniffed heisman w teams competing for big east titles

Syracuse will hve to be in acc championship contention at a minimum to be considered. Heisman is the ultimate popularity contest
Not true. McNabb was on everybodys list after the Michigan game . losses to NC state and WV put those mentions to bed.

VSIN guy talked with Pat Forde today and said getting 80-1 is a great bet
