ESPN new streaming service in the fall. Anyone know if this will include ACCN???

I live in the Albany area too, as far as service. Quite a few do so they can add some more updated insight. But I’ve definitely missed some FB and quite a few (especially preseason) BB games by dumping spectrum. I’ve looked at going back, when I dumped spectrum the FB team was just okay and I could justify missing a game here or there. The BB team, for me, become not fun or interesting to watch as it declined and with a kid in soccer, it was easy to miss BB games too. But now that FB is exciting again, every week is a PIA not knowing if everything I subscribe to, if I’ll still have access to a game. When I had spectrum I never missed a game.

Take that for what it’s worth. I dropped spectrum about 4 years ago. Largely because I moved and decided to see how I’d manage without it. I added YTTV but dropped that too 6 months ago or so as prices went up over $25 in the 3+ years I had it. On top of YTTV I still had to have subscriptions to other things to be able to watch the sports I like, especially soccer and cycling.

Given all that, I have no idea what just spectrum cable costs. I still have to use their internet b/c there’s no fiber option where I live. Maybe someone still in a similar situation can provide more current info.
Check out "Superbox." You will get all of the above mentioned channels and more. I've had it for about a year and I'm happy with it. The best part is that I have no monthly TV bill to pay. Last year I watched every SU game and also had the capability to watch live any other college football or basketball game being played also got all NFL games. NCAA, NFL, NBA, NHL, WNBA were available to me.

Is this Superbox a device that gives one easy access to pirate streams? Cuz I have some opinions about that if it’s what I think it is.

Check out Superbox on Google. I have had it for 3 years. Got everything SU B-ball Football and Lax game. Pm me and I will explain the detail. I did not believe for a year and then purchased one and now have 2.
Does need a TV for it to work or can it work directly to the computer?

It looks like Hulu + Live is going to be the best all-in-one streaming solution for fball and bball (as it includes ESPN Select - the new ESPN+) for the base price of $82.99.

You will get local ABC, CBS, NBC and CW too.

YTTV will be $82.99 + $11.99 for ESPN Select I believe for same coverage...

Never used Hulu Live before (just used YTTV or Sling) but looks like I will be giving it a try...

I was going to but the issues with Hulu I read on Reddit have me likely renewing with YTTV for the football season.

People in the industry expect YTTV to also have ESPN+ with the ESPN Unlimited Plan once they negotiate a new contract with ESPN around the end of the year. One note I've heard about Hulu Live vs. YTTV - a friend has Hulu Live but cannot use it on a TV other than in his primary home (he also has a vacation home) although he can use it on mobile and tablets when outside the home. You can use YTTV on any device outside your home including a TV. Also YTTV has unlimited DVR and saves the program for 9 months. I don't know what Hulu Live has in the way of DVR.

Unlimited live DVR recording is included on Hulu + Live

You can use Hulu +Live in a vacation home but you have to authorize that network as you primary residence when you want to use it... then authorize your primary residence when you get back (so yes, some minor settings hoop jumping on that and I will be doing the same.)

Ok. Got it. Thanks. My friend's problem is he goes back and forth between both houses during the Summer so changing his primary residence doesn't work. I'd have no problem with that with YTTV. And if Hulu Live is like YTTV, I can only change my primary residence twice within a one year span. Timing that each year can get tricky. I just ran into a problem with that with YTTV and one of the support people reset my account for me to let me make the change a few weeks before the one year was up.

Some people have had issues with Hulu live even in their own homes depending on the internet provider they have. Hulu thinks they’re in a different area and some people are being denied access 2-3 times a week. Certain internet services seem to be an issue but can’t remember which ones. Also a decent amount of people have said they’ve had DVR issues. Show doesn’t record at all, was the one I saw most frequently. But for sports, on YTTV you can extend the length of a recording and for me, that almost always covered an event running over time. But not always. With Hulu live (correct me if this is wrong) you can’t add time to the end of a program. So game runs later and runs into overtime, you are watching a replay of it, you prob will miss the end because the recording will stop. YTTV also has ACC network so even if there is no agreement with ESPN at the start of the season you should still be able to get all the games.

It encrypts the data and masks your ip address. I don’t trust IPS services either. They all are looking to make as much money as they can and will track and sell your data if they can. Also, forget about public access points. There is a reason why corporatations all use VPNs.

I remember when it was Android phones vs Apple. Many of my counter parts loved Android as they could play. I didn’t want an Android device anywhere near my sensitive information like a phone.
Corporations use VPNs to allow vendors and their employees to connect to their internal network remotely or to connect directly to another corporation for the purposes of electronic data transfer(automatic inventory restocking, drop shipping, etc. requesting a web site is not EDT). Corporations DO NOT use VPNs to hide their presence, location, standard web traffic, etc. That is just for home users and really a side effect of VPN's original purpose.

So of these services also only X number of changes to primary residence so beware
an additional note re YTTV and primary residence -- if you are using it outside your designated "home area" (i.e., you haven't changed your primary residence), you can only watch live the local channels in the location you are in and cannot DVR a program on those local channels. However, any programs you have DVR'd from the local channels in your "home area" will still record (but only if you haven't been out of your home area for more than 3 months) but you cannot watch them until the program has ended.

For watching sports on YTTV, there is no mechanism to extend the time to record the game in case it runs over. However, if you are DVR'g the game it will automatically include any additional time over the scheduled time. I have watched a lot of games that I have DVR'd and I've never missed the end of the game. [If you're watching a game live and it runs over, the program will say it's the next scheduled program on the guide when it is really the game that is running over. Once the game has ended I suspect they manually add the additional time to the original game's recording. BTW, I suspect the way YTTV works is that they record every program on the channels they have and when you click to DVR a program it is just connecting your account to that particular program's recording.]

Hmm. I member in settings being able to set an additional amount of time to the end of sporting events I DVR. Maybe that changed since I cancelled, at least 6 months ago……?

I can confirm that.

I live in Ballston Spa (primary rez) and my vacation home is in the eastern adirondacks and when I used YTTV up there, the local TV stations are out of Burlington, VT.

Thanks. I've never seen it but haven't looked for it. I will look. I've had YTTV for over 2 years. As I mentioned I haven't found I've needed it.

Yep - looks like you get 4 times that you can change your home network location in a given year...

Not ideal for vacation home owners:

I also could be wrong but I was pretty sure that was an option. I’ll know in a couple weeks when I renew.
