ESPN new streaming service in the fall. Anyone know if this will include ACCN???

Do you have superbox? Was thinking about pulling the trigger on one, but would like a real persons review on it.
I'm going on my third year. Goodbye to Hulu sling youtube etc. I have so many sports available I can't keep up.I would be happy to answer any question. It paid for itself in 4 months. Bought 2.

Thank you. My further question is whether when someone with a cable/satellite/streaming (e.g. YTTV) plan and will get the new ESPN app for free will, it include ESPN+? I believe it will otherwise be all the ESPN channels. I believe some new contract agreements ESPN has made with some cable distributors includes ESPN+ with certain cable "tiers". I haven't had a chance to research that.
This may answer your question...it sounds like your ESPN+ perk with those TV plans will turn into ESPN Unlimited, so I assume all of that content will be available. Besides YTTV (at least for now, really hope they get that figured out soon)

Yeah. I'm still all on Sat so avoid streaming as much as possible. But a Superbox device is just asking for trouble with the security holes. Its even worse than a smart tv as a security risk.

?

It sounds like ABC live content will be streamed through ESPN Unlimited. I hope so.
Yes, it will be.

"Will ABC Sports be available on ESPN DTC?

Yes. ESPN on ABC will be included as part of the ESPN Unlimited plan and will feature live events and other programming."

read the threads. Its an android device and you really don't know what its doing on your home network . I mean its really stealing feeds so its not legit, so who knows. No different than many apps on smart TVS. Roku and the like are passing data back to home base. Most smart TVs do as well if you don't turn it off.

Thanks very much. I have both DirecTV satellite and YTTV. I've read that DirecTV Satellite will be included sometime in the next few months. I haven't seen if YTTV will. In fact I think I read that YTTV's current carriage agreement with ESPN runs out near or at the end of the year. I assume they'll re-up at some point and include all of the new ESPN Unlimited Plan.

Also, per a friend who has Spectrum cable, I don't believe all Spectrum plans include ESPN+ but I'll suggest that he re-try after tomorrow.

Interesting.

Doesn’t YouTube tv have all of those? You should be able to login using those credentials
Getting it for Hulu and Disney and ESPN+. We piggyback on my son's Hulu and this will be a better option for us. I know I don't need it for ACCN etc.
And we don't know how ESPN will be handling the other streaming options going forward. (Hulu Live TV, Youtube etc).

If one good thing has come from the streaming/TV wars, its that it is very easy to cancel monthly for streaming services and not be locked in to a contract for a year. Worst case scenario, the dust settles and you can cancel anything after a month and subscribe to whatever works

Welcome to the IoT world LoL.

Edit: It’s the Wild Wild West out there. There are ways to help secure and keep your computers safe. People can run a good VPN (pay for a good one like NordVPN) and also run a password protected “guest” network just for IoT devices. It helps but there is always a risk.

how does a VPN do anything for you? A guest network does help in some ways but then it makes it a pain to watch things as well

It encrypts the data and masks your ip address. I don’t trust IPS services either. They all are looking to make as much money as they can and will track and sell your data if they can. Also, forget about public access points. There is a reason why corporatations all use VPNs.

I remember when it was Android phones vs Apple. Many of my counter parts loved Android as they could play. I didn’t want an Android device anywhere near my sensitive information like a phone.

So yeah some of that VPN stuff helps you. but in the case the Superbox it doesnt help because its already on the other side of the VPN. Depending on the app it doesn't even hide you IP address though.

We use VPN to login to work. But 95% of the traffic on my laptop does not go thru he VPN anyway. So if I am on my work machine connected a VPN watching ESPN that is not going thru the VPN.

Now some companies its the opposite and you can't even get ESPN because the VPN locks down traffic.

Now NORDVPN doesnt work that way either. It encrypts the traffic between you and NORD server but not that outbound traffic after that. One thing to remember is that while using a VPN that does not mean your IP is hidden from the receiving side depending on the APP being used.

SO for instance you have an APP running on a roku going thru a VPN to a sketchy site. All fine. But if that app has been coded to grab WIFI signals beyond the one your ROKU is connected to then your IP is exposed and perhaps other data as well. Gambling apps already do that on IPADS and laptops for example which is why VPNS don't help you mask location.

Like you said, the app is a security risk. Nothing is full proof and there is always a risk. Just adding layers to protect just like a corporation does with their data. The difference is that a corporation is usually the end point.

I’m assuming the benefit to having YTTV and getting ESPN anything that way is the DVR ability. Because of my kids sports I’m almost always watching games on replay. Every year I forget, if I just have the ESPN app and I miss a game on ACC or even the Tenn game. How soon after the game ends can I watch the replay?

Last year was the first hoops year I didn’t make a point of worrying about how to watch games live. A lot of free YouTube streams and random streaming services I caught the games tho. The condensed games on YouTube go up surprisingly fast too. The way they were playing there wasn’t much rush.

I’ve tried most of them all in small doses. Sling, YouTubeTV, cable providers, ESPN, pretty much all the streaming apps .

This year I expect to be watching every game. I’m leaning towards YouTubeTV just for convenience. Not the cheapest but it should have everything for hoops and football. Maybe a promo code will come up. I just don’t trust ESPN and some of the other streaming apps to have everything.

I can send you a YTTV referral link and we both got some of our bill then, if you want.

It may depend on the event but they usually have it available on the app fairly quickly after the event is over. You have to look at the OnDemand portion of the app instead of live events.

YouTubeTV usually has various introductory plans available. Sometimes depending on the month. I just did a quick search and found these different discounts: 1) $99 off the first 3 months, or 2) first 21 days free, or 3) 10 day free trial plus $13 a month discount for 6 months. You have to hunt around a bit. The first 2 are only available in August.

I think you’re right. I remember asking last year b/c I feel like years ago, it sometimes wouldn’t show up till late at night or the next day. Thanks.

ESPN+ will now be the ESPN Select plan. Same price, and you will automatically be converted to that tomorrow when the app launches. It's mentioned in the FAQs at the bottom. So far, YouTube TV has yet to get an agreement in place with ESPN. So as of now YouTube TV credentials probably won't work. This does leave ACCNX in a sort of limbo, because it has only been available on the ESPN app by using your YouTube TV credentials. It will be accessible eventually, but only when the 2 sides get an agreement
I just did a Google search. Google AI says 1) when a distributor reaches a new agreement with ESPN to give subscribers access to the new ESPN DTC App, it will include ESPN+, and 2) Before a distributor (e.g., YTTV) reaches a new agreement with ESPN to have access to the new ESPN App, the distributor's subscribers will still have access to ACCNX as before as it's dependent on the distributor having ACCN. We'll see what happens in practice after August 21st. I also discovered that DirecTV Satellite subscribers are expected to have access to the Full new ESPN DTC app (presumably including ESPN+) by October 15th after there is a beta-test in select markets.
