can somebody explain to me if WVU goes to the big 12 next season, how can the Big East even hold Pitt and SU to the 27 months? Besides at this moment it looks like there might not be a big east for football pretty soon.

Short answer: They can't. The Big East's only option would be to sue which would be prohibitively expensive.
