Fan behavior in section 321

Certainly there's a reasonable middle ground between doing away with Saturday night games and the bleachers being like the Wild West.
I would agree but the problem just about every time is people drink way to much. Don’t get me wrong, have a cold beer or two but you just got allot of people slugging them down like its their mission. If you end beer sales earlier, people will just try and bring more in or will drink more before coming in. To be honest the best way to control it is you get one warning and if you continue to act like an ass the cops show you out of the stadium. Don’t allow 5 trips to the same guy and let the guys with a badge escort the people out and if the guy has seasons, 2 jettisons equal a loss of tickets. You can have a few beers and have fun with out being a dipsheeet.

In the end, in order to get that persons abusive words out of our heads, my wife and I had to sit down together to forgive that person, unknown to us as he is. He is an extremely troubled individual that needs help.

Of course that doesn’t change the fact that process-wise, improvements need to be made in terms of how our security team handles instances like this. Even though each situation is a little different, the entire staff needs to be trained around a standardized process that they will all follow. It was obvious that they had no such process in place last night. They were just hoping it would go away, which it didn’t.

we had 7 kids crash our tailgate when it started to rain, said they were from NJ and appeared to be students but who the heck knows. Totally inebriated and looked to be 18 - 19 year old kids. They started mowing through all our food like you can't believe. At first we welcomed them but when they started grabbing handfuls of shrimp and acting like cretins with absolutely no manners my brother asked them to leave. Then the one kid gives him the bird and I'm surprised tables didn't get thrown to be honest.

This is our 10th year tailgating and I've got to say that was a first. Don't usually see too many students wander down to our lot but yesterday the day was off the hook.

I thought the crowd was much better than it was for the Duke basketball game in February.

I'm curious, when you said "security guard" in your OP, are you referring to like the bouncer-type security guards that you see at NFL games, or are you referring to the usher in each section, which in many cases could be an elderly person or woman.

That’s a great point Eric, and that is part of the problem I think. We first contacted the usher and he was the one that tried to diffuse the situation but it only kept escalating. I believe ushers are not capable of dealing with these kinds of issues. They should be instructed to get a different level of help much much faster. Eventually four different people showed up. Some of them trying to do something, others just watching. I don’t want to put blame on anyone, that is not my intent. They were trying their best I’m sure. What I want to do is help shed some light on what is becoming a real problem.

Want to show us the guy? Or maybe this picture was taken after he already got kicked out.
Interesting. The board was able to find no less than 6 people flipping the bird in the basketball panoramic. And i cant find ONE in the 50,000 here. And I’ve gone down that rabbit hole for the last 45 minutes!

The other thing I’ve learned over that 45 minutes? I’m definitely above average looks. Lord have mercy!

You should look at the Clemson band - you’ll find one flipping the bird there.

one of the best things to happen was moving the Clemson band out of the first level and stuffing them up on the third. I don't know who's decision that was but it was a good one. They have very little respect for the house they're playing in so it doesn't surprise me some members are flipping the bird.

I think it was Linda that shared her bad experience with an idiot fan. Well I had mine last night in section 321. A person that I can only describe as being demon-possessed and drunk out of his mind began in the middle of the first quarter to continuously curse and spew the worst kind of obscenities imaginable. When my wife and I and those around him told him to stop, it just got worse and worse and worse.

A gentleman sitting next to me went down to talk with the security guard. When the security guard finally reluctantly came up after we begged him to remove this person, he was obviously ill prepared to deal with the situation, said a few polite words and left. After he left, the person just started right back up again doubling down on the filth. Pleading from the crowd ensued again and visit two from the same security guard went the same way as visit one went, but with now more of a slight frown in place of politeness. Same behavior ensues, tripled down this time and a fight almost broke out. A different security guard comes up and talks to him a little more sternly, more like a warning and leaves. Now the whole section was getting into it with the guy. Finally on the fourth visit what looked to be a real policeman made his way up and escorted the person away. All of this lasted an entire quarter, and probably more. We couldn’t watch any football.

My wife and I were honestly afraid to leave the building for fear this person was still around looking to hurt someone. That’s how bad and utterly vile his behavior was.

I know it’s not easy for security to walk the fine line, but we need to do better. It completely impacted the night of our entire section and the stench of his words are still with me.

Saw it at the Maryland game. Its hugely disappointing and unnerving to experience.

I was very happy with that as I sit in 111 and my ears could not take them in 110 2 years ago.

318 was perfectly fine and and in line. Also Clemson fans behind me were nice and polite and I didn’t hear any CUSE fans give them a hard time either.

I will say this though, I was irritated the Clemson band was allowed to play right up to us snapping the football. That bothered me.

Clemson fan in 311. I tried to strike a balance between cheering and not being obnoxious. Stayed positive. Most fans were great to us. A few were pretty ugly but nothing I wasn't prepared for. Told my son to just keep his mouth shut and many fans stood up for us and/or apologized for the nonsense. Every fan base has "those fans". I just tried to remember that I was in your house last night and we enjoyed ourselves.

I assume that you were the one sitting next to my wife and I. Enjoyed chatting some football with you. Looks like you and your son made it back to PA safely.

In fact there’s 4 of them flipping the bird - it’d be a shame if a snap of that photo wound up with their band director.
There are also several flashing a white power symbol...racists.

You haven’t found my BIL yet then...

Thats horrible and they should lot be representing their school.

Agree. It's sickening to do that especially while representing the school. I'm not going to, but I wouldn't be sad if someone decided to email those pics to the Clemson band director. Not that hard to find his email address.

Honestly, I don't think you can just outright say they are flashing a racist symbol. Sure, some white supremacists use it, but the overwhelming use of the symbol is an innocuous one:
