Favorite Opposing Fan Bases

Who’s yours? Two categories, genuine/most pleasant favorite fan base, and favorite villain opposing fan base.

Genuinely admire/appreciate: UVA and SDSU

Id brawl with them then maybe share a beer or 40: WVU, Uconn and Kansas


Dukies prefer seltzers and I can’t stoop there

San Diego sy fans sure showed some class here recently and Virginia fans have also been supportive.

For me, UVA is the epitome of a program that I want to hate but just can't. They're frustrating to have to play all the time, but we've caused them some pain too, and their fans have always been classy. Tony Bennett also seems like pure class, so it's hard to hate them.

I also went to a game there in 2007 and was treated well despite being a loud (respectful, but loud) opposing fan in the lower bowl surrounded by UVA fans. I was standing up cheering after our big buckets, and nobody so much as yelled at me to sit down. That said, part of the respectful part was always being back down in my seat before they were into the front court so I wasn't blocking people's views.

Like if their fans were even slightly rude, I'd easily loathe the program. Instead, I respect them, and root for them in the NCAAs if it doesn't impact us.

Finally. someone besides me and Marsh have noticed. Although, I have to say, and I might have read this all wrong, but they didn't seem real happy we won the other night. My favorite was one poster who said that after SD st last practice, Dutcher must have said, oh, by the way, they play a 2-3 zone. you guys will figure it out.

UConn fans are the worst. They were getting booted from the Garden a couple of years ago before halftime.

yeah I have no beef with UVa. I still can laugh when they lose because I learned my lesson rooting for conf in the tourney when Uconn won their 2nd via beating duke And GT. i remember thinking yay! Big east beat ACC!

now we still hear about it 20 years later

The fan bases I have seen in person the most were the old Big East teams. Of those I pretty much disliked all of them. I guess Marquette was the most tolerable.

Based on interactions I've had in person, Louisville. At two different games I've been around Louisville fans and they were very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Least favorite based on in-person interactions: Virginia Tech. Always rude and rowdy when they came to the Dome back when I was a student.

Based on how I saw a bunch of our fans behaving after we beat Clemson in a football, I wouldn't blame them for hating us at all.

Seems to be no loved lost between Cuse, Bonnie and UB fans/students too from what I’ve seen at the dome. Mainly students

In real life...the Louisville and WVU fans at the BET were good fun. LSU fans in Baton Rouge were unbelievable.

UConn fans are the worst. In real life, online. Just awful.

While in school I remember hating the Cornell students who would come up for the game. They were d bags. Chanting “it’s alright, it’s ok, you’re gonna work for us someday”. Pissed me off at the time, but sadly accurate.

I had a blast with LSU fans in Armory before Leonard Fournette violated our program in its entirety

Kansas State football fans were fun at the 1997 Fiesta Bowl. Besides them, you know, UConn, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, BC.

I haven't had much interaction with opposing fan bases, but when I went to the Memphis game in 2008, their fans were really polite and complementary after the game.
