Favorite Opposing Fan Bases

Yeah, UVA is borderline Ivy. Thomas Jefferson wanted it that way.
I'd be a tad careful with the affection cast toward the UVa fanbase, because it certainly won't be reciprocated in kind (not everyone is Tony Bennett). A heavy does of conceit radiates from most alumni (which to be honest, does not make them bad people). They're just brilliant (if you ask them) enough, however, to mask it with a heaping spoonful of southern charm ("that's interesting, we call it the Grounds, not a campus ..."). They do not have much academic respect for anyone outside of Stanford, Vandy, Northwestern, Hopkins and/or Univ. of Chicago people, to name a chosen few.

It is always entertaining to watch UVa alums cross paths with Ivy League grads. They immediately know that their inherent superiority transmitter is jammed. It's akin to a magnet messing with a compass. They cannot handle it. You can read it on their faces, if you know to look for it. Pure entertainment.

It was a very strange vibe inside that stadium. It felt like a preseason NFL game where the crowd is mostly full at kickoff but is half-full by the second half. I don't know if the LSU fans just weren't taking it seriously or if they were disinterested due to being beaten pretty bad the week before.
My guess is that they didn't take us seriously. Combine SEC arrogance with our legitimate irrelevance at the time, and they probably thought more of their spring game.

I had a cool time in 2010 when SU and WVU were both in Buffalo. Walked all the way from the parking lots a mile away with a group of 'Eers fans. We were in different brackets thanks to the pod system but we cheered for each other's teams... I remember SU (minus Arinze) beat Gonzaga when they had that guard that looked like Frodo, Elias, and a frosh Kelly Olynyk
