Fo sho...I'm not even worried about it. If it comes tumbling down, it's happening to everyone.

A1000i was thinking about this today . . . back in 2011, us govt agents raided bernie fine's house, seized his computer and thousands of pages of documents. bernie was the bookkeeper - if there was any evidence of su playing the sneaker money game, it would have been in those documents or on that computer. of course that doesn't cover the six years since bernie was fired, but su was under investigation and/or probation for all that time and was likely being scrupulously clean anyway. this memory made me much more confident that su will remain in the clear as further details emerge from the federal investigation
Stupid article, save your time. Simply argues that everyone does it so it is not a crime. The author did not learn anything in kindergarten.
I've seen the same nonsense asserted in the "burn it down" thread. The argument goes like this: there's lots of money and cheating, so let's just give up on education for amateur athletes altogether and ask our universities to operate a d-league for FB and BB kids, pay them like semi-pros and pass them through to the professional ranks. Unfortunately, this reasoning throws the baby out with the bathwater: It ignores the fact that much of the cheating is outside the NCAA bubble (shoe companies; AAU, etc.); it devalues education; it turns amateurism on its head; and it embraces the worst element of college sports (UK) as the model for everyone. Ridiculous.Yeah, this is why I can't read Nocera. Maybe there are some decent kernels in there, but everything boils down to relativism for him. It's tedious. And wrong.
I think this is far from over. They subpoenaed Nike and ASM just last week. It'll take a little while before the results of the information obtained can be fully investigated. This scandal petered out pretty quick. I doubt anymore head coaches lose their jobs unless something else is made public. They're going to fall back on the I didn't know defense and eventually the NCAA will get around and suspend Miller for 10 non-con games in 2022.

There's been a recent rule change that eliminated that defense. The HC is now responsible for everything his assistants do.This scandal petered out pretty quick. Oh, I'm aware, that's why Miller will be suspended 10 non-con games in 2022. Bilas and Vitale have already come out that Miller couldn't possibly have known what Book was up to because he's a man of integrity and honesty. He had no earthly idea how the Wildcats were securing commitments from top-20 guys from across the country. The HC is now responsible for everything his assistants do.

The NCAA is interested in getting this thing swept away from the public eye as quickly as possible. Shut up, deny everything, and keep cashing them checks.
The bad news for India-noplace is that this is just starting and they have no control whatsoever regarding the timing of revelations, arrests, etc. It's going to be like a sine wave. We just hit the crest of one publicity wave and are going down to the trough. Then the Nike arrests will start and we'll go to another crest. We'll probably hit the trough of that wave and then, just when everyone thinks, "That's the end," it will be time for the trials to start for those who don't plead guilty and also about that time will be the next wave of arrests built on the info given by those who did plead guilty ... This ain't goin' away any time soon. The smartest thing the NCAA can do is issue the punishments based on this round of revelations based on "guilty" pleas of the schools and then wait for the next wave to hit.Oh, I'm aware, that's why Miller will be suspended 10 non-con games in 2022. Dammit son give us names!!!Was just listening to Taj Boyd on Sirius College Sports channel. He claimed he was offered a house, car and cash to go to one university. Ended up at Clemson of course, and said that Dabo told him "I can't offer you a house or cash, but I can offer you an opportunity".

Does this mean that he was a CBb coach or that he never was? Kinda vague?

The tweet does say "One of the coaches impacted...", so I read it as someone who used to coach. You wouldn't call someone coach who never coached, right? That's what I was wondering. I guessed Mack Brown since I thought maybe it was a former football coach. Poorly worded tweet.

Still doesn't say if he once coached college basketball and doesn't anymore and is in a studio, or if he was a one time college football coach is now a analyst. The tweet does say "One of the coaches impacted...", so I read it as someone who used to coach. Ah, I see what you're saying - FB coach or BB coach? I read your posts as 'was the guy a coach at all?'Right but football or basketball? It's an awful tweet.
