Like the rest of you, I am hoping for some good news about Coach Shafer and his family.

Well, it would definitely seem weird resigning from a job if you had health issues ... I mean I would think one would want to keep their insurance.
Hopefully he just misses being a HC and is thinking about stepping down into entry levels to get there.
Sure hope so. He seems like a quality guy. That's not the reason. He's going to be fine. Just some things going on that require his undivided attention.
thats great news. For what it's worth, at the Spring game I spoke to the spouse of an SU athletics staffer who is still in touch with Missy Shafer. Missy confirmed that it is not a health issue that caused former HCSS to bail on Maryland.
geezIf Shafer hadn't gotten fired and if he still had to resign for personal reasons in April, would Tim Lester have been our head coach?

One can only hope.
We just needed a half-dozen or so more years for that scheme to really click.

Dino's offense will put up more yardage than Lester's in it's first season, and he'll probably put up more yards in the first game than Lester's offense ever produced. The scheme was in place for one season.
And it afforded more explosive plays than we have seen in years. And he was forced to play a true frosh and a walk-on at QB.
Babers has indicated that it takes at least 1.5 years for his system to begin to jell.
So, I don't think you can criticize Lester that way.
it's fun to imagine the meltdown. i'm sure I would've been very measured and totally above the fray. One can only hope.
