Guys it’s simple for those wondering - red is gone even if he makes the tourney. He has to win a game in the tourney to keep his job. This was told to me this summer. So you will have your answer no matter what at the end of the year when the time comes what to look for

Yea this is where I'm at as an average fan that went to school with the legends. Melo, GMac, Hak, Pace, Duaney and the rest. It's not just wins and losses it's to who and how. There is little to no confidence, leadership or killer instinct around Jim Boeheim court and there hasn't been for some time whether the old man or Autry.

Iowa St was the first nail although they look like a 1 seed in the tourney now so maybe it's a half nail.

After tonight this is basically Joe Pesci getting the call from Goodfellas. He just hasn't shown up to the basement yet.

Nothing will happen until the end of the year. But as painful as it sounds, losses going forward are a good thing. The more the better. Got to make this as cut and dry as possible. Red is and has been a horrible coach for 3 yrs and we will never be successful with him at the helm. There'll be excuses, no Donnie, bad calls, took us a while to find chemistry, ect so the more losses the more easy and irrefutable the decision with be

I’m not going to judge anyone’s parenting here. At the same time, a team doesn’t need to be a perennial final 4 contender to make it a family activity.

It’s a bummer that SU has been mediocre for a decade. It’s was avoidable, and tough decisions needed to be made in the wake of our second probation.

But if you needed the team to be great to use it as a bond, let me suggest that the kids were never going to be into it anyway.

This is such a misguided comment. How can we expect to bond over this with our children when WE can’t even get into it. Children will get into it if they see dad excited.

My oldest son is 11. Born the night the 25-0 team lost to BC. He has grown up witnessing the program sink to rock bottom and a community that doesn’t care anymore. That is the nail in the coffin. Nobody cares except the few of us on here.

But sure, we need great final 4 contenders for this to be a family thing. My lord.

In my opinion, you hire a continuation hire if you are happy with the current direction and want someone who is experienced to keep the momentum going. Hopkins would have been that hire. Once things started to fall under Jimmy B it made little sense to keep either of the assistants. Things were trending in the wrong direction. It made more sense to go outside the family. We didn't and expected different results. Not working out that way. I guess politics played a part as Jimmy was such an icon so it on some level made sense for him to endorse the hire.

I can’t see a top 25 team let alone a championship contender.
