Fire Autry

No I want someone else as a mercenary. Couldn’t care less about the rest of the staff

That person in capable form doesn’t exist. That’s the reality. Nor does the current team buying into it. Thus the point of this island makes no sense.

I give you the same answer I did 2 weeks ago. The entire staff stinks. There’s no Jim O’Brien on the bench.

And it’s wasted energy. Every minute this winter needs to be spent back channeling to agents and intermediaries for our next coach. Not managing a coaching change in January. That’s unnecessary effort for an increasingly lost season.

This, plus let's say you do make a change and Griff takes this team on a run. Now you're gonna have people demanding he be hired etc. Let the season play out and then make the move, we all know the score (or most of us do anyway save for a few guys on here and the ghost of Comstock44)

Because it’s more to see if you can salvage the season with an assistant and to get a head start on the real search. I’m not implying you find the real guy right now.
I think a couple of our better players shut it down if we were to get rid of Red in the next week or two. The players love him and in this day and age they’re not gonna stick around and risk injury to play for a lost cause. And at this moment, they don’t believe it’s a lost cause, even if we do

We aren’t using necessary effort right now.

I’d like to put college hoops on notice
That we take the sport seriously. We aren’t going to the NIT let alone the NCAA. Let’s front channel a coaching hire. I frankly don’t trust us being primed by other jobs.

The big issue is if Griff gets this team playing better? Let’s be serious for one second. That’s a real good problem to have. Big programs aren’t seduced into that good problem.

We act like it’s an orderly sport in an amateur environment. It’s a pro sport that operates w vipers and sharks.

We saw a glimpse of Griff in the TBT… you can cross that scenario off.

The most depressing thing that happened this week is the reality that we have two more months of this death march... and thats after we got 22 inches of snow in a 24 hour period...

Our Pats stuck with Mayo for 2 months after Kraft reportedly decided to fire him after the Germany game. It’ll be about 2 months from now that Red gets the axe, most likely.

It’s fine. Signals don’t need to be sent. Coaches who are interested in SU are going to start back channeling soon, if they haven’t already.

Yup, agents aren't dumb the backchanneling has already started.

I forget the situation, but Donnie was just subbed out and sat down, almost looking for a coach to talk to him. Dave just sat there and didn’t say a word to him. It was strange.

Kraft fired him after one year. If this was year 1 I’d be fine w JW waiting till March.

I hear you and realize the word is out already that he’s gonzo but I feel like it’s all performative at this point. As a fan I’d be more interested in a non red coached team.

Never underestimate a narcissist when they’re being shown the door.

My real frustration with this whole line of argument is it ignores the realities that JW has a boss too. And his boss answers to a lot of folks on the Board, many of whom had personal relationships with JB. None of this happens in a vacuum where you’re allowed to just do what’s right. I wish JW had the authority to do what we all wish he had done. But it’s not that easy.
That is often overlooked the politics of that situation….in really rooting for Autry to turn this around he bleeds Orange and we have seen some of what this team can do

This isn't the NFL or college football. Look no further than Kevin Keats...guy ends up winning the ACC and going to the FF. Granted it fell apart a year later, but there are a lot of chances in this sport that other sports don't have and that guys will play for.

I agree that SU has yet to fully recognize that it now fields professional sports teams. The board and many boosters never fully embraced the realities of college sports over the past 30+ years, and they’re behind the curve yet again now.

However, that’s the reality. They won’t support firing Red now. No chance. Zero. They’re going to want to see him get the chance to meet JW’s expectations. A change won’t be made until that’s done with.

Honestly, who cares? They’re not here for the love of the game. There’s a good chance to leave anyway. And a competent coach will bring in better players or players who can fit his system. The only thing I’d worry about is maintaining the relationship with the Anthony family, but Carmelo is a pro, he understands basketball and he understands that coaches get fired when they don’t perform.

Correct. Kraft realized after year 1 this was a mistake. Re Autry, we suspected after year one and knew after year 2 and still nothing. Now we wait longer.

So when the inevitable happens and Red gets fired, do we think Koran will transfer? I can’t lie that would be a huge blow if he transfers out.

Are you aware of what Rick has achieved with other programs? All kidding aside, we need a NEW coach and staff.
I think, as CBB fans, we are all well aware of what Pitino has achieved with other programs.

I think, also, that as rational human beings, most of us (but obviously not all of us) realize that Rick Pitino has almost a 0 chance of being head coach at Syracuse University.

No matter how much you want it to happen.

A man in his 70s complaining in pressers? Should be a novel concept :)

Seriously the guy has a blank check at St. John's and hasn't really lit the world on fire there either.
