Fire Autry

Just a terrible coach, like absolutely awful coach. JW must be the most gullible guy in sports
Everyone keeps acting like this was actually JW choice. JB went out kicking and screaming. Only way to keep him from blowing everything up was hiring an assistant. JB may have wanted Jerry over Red but he was not going to accept an out of program hire. Hopefully the BOT tells JB he has no say on the next coach.

Brownell got them 8 points off perfect in bounds plays. JJ cost the team 6 points by dribbling off his leg. Red called 1 offensive play. 1. Donnie hesitant in first half and great in 2nd half. Can’t believe how bad NG is with the ball. There’s a lot to dislike at the moment and that’s me saying that
Why do these things seem to only happen to Red. I just don’t think he brings the best out of his players consistently. That’s a problem.

It’s a shame for this group and Donnie finally coming back to have things be over before they can start. That said outside a miracle run and Red all the sudden learning how to be a better coach, good riddance and bring in new ideas and a new identity.
Nobody in the basketball world thought Autry was going to do anything this year, no matter what talent he brought in. There's a reason that there was no buzz for this team, even with a vastly upgraded roster.

I'm shocked Melo was willing to risk putting Kiyan in this situation where he isn't being coached, isn't being developed, and isn't winning. Will be interesting to see if the new coach can hold on to him.

The most convenient cop out. You fire a guy because the game has passed him bye and then you hire the replacement he thinks would work because you’re afraid JB might blow up the program?

Like I said, most gullible guy in sports because he bought that crock and now he’s blown up the program anyway.

It’s not a cop out if it’s the truth. Lot of other folks to blame. JB at top of the list for holding everyone hostage.

Yeah, right. It CONTINUES to be JAB’s fault. Just give it a rest.

What was he going to do? Call out to the donors and say “hey they didn’t hire my guy so pull your money” meanwhile they were pulling their money anyway? It’s ridiculous

Never underestimate a narcissist when they’re being shown the door.

My real frustration with this whole line of argument is it ignores the realities that JW has a boss too. And his boss answers to a lot of folks on the Board, many of whom had personal relationships with JB. None of this happens in a vacuum where you’re allowed to just do what’s right. I wish JW had the authority to do what we all wish he had done. But it’s not that easy.

I can’t imagine the board rubber stamped this. Were they not the ones calling for him to be fired?

Forgive my ignorance but in my world, the bottom dollar trumps personal relationships

JB was put on too high of a pedestal by many. Unfortunately, we have to fall from those established heights before people realize they made a mistake by making the pedestal too high. But people in positions of authority are arrogant.

There’s a universe where Boeheim is still coaching *today* due to the loyalties of board members and influential boosters. And as bad as Autry is, imagine Boeheim still here with the talent level wayyyy worse than it is now. Cuz that’s what we’d have.

and yet we probably would still win more games, because we had talent way worse than it is now for years at the end.

this program started to crash when JB stubbornly stuck to a zone in a 3 point shooting era...it went to crap...kids want to go to the NBA where they play M to M

I don’t feel bad for most of you making the excuses. There is a blue print for change, and going blue in the face insisting you can’t make mid season changes doesn’t change anything, in fact it is even more of an indictment on the state of things that the path for needed change can happen but won’t

Why would they say that now? They’re tight friends with JB. If they wanted to put the program first they would have abstained out of conflict of interest and let JW do a proper search.

The program is rotten at its core.

What “history” might that be? The way they treated a Hall of Fame legend? You seriously think Red will get the same slack?
How many opportunities did the university get to part ways with Jim B ? Ans: many
Think about where the program might be today if they hadn’t let opportunity after opportunity to cut Jim loose slide by.

It won’t happen until March at the earliest. Really no point in firing before the last game of the season unless we’re below .500
