It would scare off the next coach. In reality the next coach won’t care and if that’s what scares them off they probably aren’t tough enough to lead a successful ACC program.

Coaches know the deal. It's a different world. If they're scared of a mid season firing they are not cut out for the job and that just simply allows the process to self sort.

Honestly, the only reason you would do it is if there’s an advantage. But there’s no advantage to firing Red mid-season because you won’t be able to contact any prospective head coaches because they’re still playing out their season.

Red will be fired at the end of the season. We most likely won’t have a new coach announced until after the first weekend of the NCAAT.

well, Etan, typically people who are bad at their job are fired and replaced internally until a permanent replacement is found. Thanks for always, always, providing your take.

Etan is right... Autry is a bad coach but not a bad person...start a silent search now and dismiss him at seasons end..serves no purpose to do it now...maybe we can keep Freeman one more year...he is not on many draft boards ( we could pay him more than undrafted or G league) and needs to get bigger and stronger...we'll have to give a new coach a bucket of portal money to fix this program!

and the candidates won’t care, atleast the ones worthwhile to hire. Probably as long as he gets his compensation they are fine with it.

What’s the disadvantage, though? Red’s feelings get hurt either way. He knows he’s a dead man walking.

You give the players who want to bail a path out of here sooner. Benefits them, doesn’t hurt us. The players who want to stay get to play together with nothing to lose and maybe gel a bit.

At this point it's to protect him. The fans are done. The booing and chants are going to get a lot worse.

I’m half kidding but not really. What if we hire a G-league coach? (Or whatever they call it now)

I can’t imagine they’re expensive. And they’ll have experience coaching professionals playing for a check, which is what these guys are now. They can hire assistants to handle the recruiting, which is more of an analytics thing now and looks at portal guys, not going into high schoolers’ homes and trying to convince a 16yo and his mom that you’re the right fit.
