Fire Autry

It’s not a cop out if it’s the truth. Lot of other folks to blame. JB at top of the list for holding everyone hostage.
I think at this point, the main narrative in describing our program's decline should be that JB hung around too long and held the program hostage, and continues to hold the program hostage by foisting upon us an unqualified successor.

I look forward to change, and an infusion of new ideas from outside of the poisoned well.

The thing that today showed me is that no matter how long it is not going to get better. Red has had 3 years to install his stuff and it is trash. He just doesn't have the coaching chops to be a P4 coach right now. He has no answers for anything besides play harder.

After what I saw today, I would fire Red after the season, regardless of whether he made the tournament or not. It is a clown show.

He's best as an assistant coach. True for many thousands of coaches out there. Just a shame he had to flame out under intense scrutiny.

How many opportunities did the university get to part ways with Jim B ? Ans: many
Think about where the program might be today if they hadn’t let opportunity after opportunity to cut Jim loose slide by.
JB turned this program from a nice regional power who made occasional NCAA Tournament appearances to a national power who was a regular NCAAT team, and a top 25 fixture. He was owed a lot of slack that Autry won’t 9and shouldn’t)get.

So when the inevitable happens and Red gets fired, do we think Koran will transfer? I can’t lie that would be a huge blow if he transfers out.
Who could possibly cares who transfers out at this point. This borderline psychotic attachment to anything related to the past is the whole reason this program is a disaster.

It’s time for him and the staff to go. Constantly has his team looking unprepared, can’t win Quad 1 games, etc. and has had 3 years to show something. He has failed MISERABLY, and it’s time for him to go. Adrian Autry = Kenny Payne, and it’s time for Syracuse to take the Louisville route and fire their HC and go OUTSIDE of their program for the next one.
Hey SarasotaPaul and SUFaninNJ, you guys still agree with your thumbs down on this post?

SLU is 13-1

George Mason (Tony Skinn) is 13-1

We have some good options at the end of this year. I’m looking forward to a new era of SU basketball. 50 years of JB+ has been about 10 years too much.
Others will be after them as well. Notably (likely) Cincy, Pitt, Providence, Marquette, Kansas St. I like our chances, but Wildhack will have to pay up for either of those two.

And no offense to the Frosh but he hasn't been that great. Hope he stays but should he go c'est la vie.

As some have mentioned, we will most likely be THE premier job this offseason for a coach.
Accurate. I said before but games like Hofstra and this are backbreakers for Autry and suck for fans but it’s the type of game where the decisionmakers and donors can start the search process.

There is not some asterisk on these games, it’s not Iowa State at 11AM in Vegas, these games should’ve been won at home with these players and the coaches weren’t up to the

Basically we should be hoarding cash right now for a big name hire. I want to buy a real coach not have to bargain shop some Temu version of one.

That's where I'm at, too.

Peter Principle.

Doesn't mean he's a "bad" coach, just not head coaching material. And he's been promoted to a position where he's out of his depth.

That's what happens when you hire someone unqualified.

Too bad there isn't a standardized test to quantify coaching prowess. Like the MCAT, DAT, LSAT, etc. I bet if there was Autry would be 2 standard deviations below the mean. He sucks I'm sorry.

I don't know why but this made me think of Andrea Bargnani (#1 pick in 2006 and decade long Raptors and Knicks super trash forward). Thanks 2026/2026 Syracuse basketball for triggering my awful basketball memories of the past.

The Toronto Raptors and Bryan Colangelo claimedto use the "Caliper Test" to assess draft picks. Colangelo even came out and said one of the main reasons he drafted Andrea Bargnani #1 was the Caliper Test. According to Colangelo, the Caliper test people and had never seen anyone who was so able to phase out any distractions. Such a "focused' individual Colangelo claimed.

The reason he was not distracted was not focus. It was that he had an elite, unseen level of not actually giving a ****.

This, plus let's say you do make a change and Griff takes this team on a run. Now you're gonna have people demanding he be hired etc. Let the season play out and then make the move, we all know the score (or most of us do anyway save for a few guys on here and the ghost of Comstock44)
Griff is a bad example based on what he did during TBT.

Yes investors invest in players, but also in leadership , a system you believe in that makes players better, not just equal to or below what they are capable of. I still see some excuses for Red. I wish my AP government students could walk in and get better scores without me. Talent alone is an overreach but good coaching and teaching never is …that’s what we should all demand . To argue otherwise only perpetuates that which we are trying to overcome, right ?

We’re in the midst of a ten year misery period and the Dome can still rock with two thirds (at best) of a crowd. Town wants a winner. Job should be attractive to the next guy.
1/3rd capacity today, it was truthfully making me upset all game. My personal first game of the year I attended and I know the crowd has been lowly, but for a NYE game and conference opener… wow it was pitiful. And I don’t blame the fans, just pissed me off because this crowd should have been 20k plus if our team was legit like it used to be. My guess is 8-10k fans.

It was bad timing for an epic snowstorm
