The other thing rarely mentioned on this board is that just because most people think Red is a "nice guy" it doesn't mean he has ever had anyone in the community excited about him as a coach. His attempts at PR are terrible to say the least. He's a boring guy. I never hear anyone defend him and it's not all because of losses. He brings no energy or enthusiasm to the fanbase or the town. Coach Jack had a poor season last year, but she still had charisma. Fran had a terrible season this year but already has ties to the community and fanbase. Red is just there.

I feel very confidant in saying that JW has been working at it for a while.

1st Q3 loss at home he prob can start the conversations.

The 2nd Q3 loss especially with Donnie back he can start vetting coaches.

Tourney chances were prob 40/60 before this game. Closer to 10/90 now.

Yep and now have to figure out how to fill the downtime the rest of this winter since this circus is no longer worth the admission price and time commitment. Sure I’m sure we will all stay somewhat tuned in but still….

Thankfully the Winter Olympics begin in a couple of weeks. That will get me to spring training.

Well I am officially in the camp that Red must go.I had tried for the last couple years to find the silver linings and grasping at straws that were just not there. Now Red didn't cause all the turnovers per say, he isn't out there with the ball in his hands. But he is the coach and the amount of lazy passes today are inexcusable. The wasted coaches challenge that had zero chances of succeeding. I was really hoping that Red would have had them work BC down and then foul them to make them shoot two instead of the three that tied the game. Granted BC would have fouled them back, but there would not have been a whole lot of time left on the clock. The players we have are decent, but a good coached team would not have just plowed their way through multiple players and fall down to end the 2nd half. They would not have had the lazy passes that led to multiple easy turnovers for BC and all the points they got off those turnovers.

All this makes me wonder, how much is Red and how much is it the coaching staff? Or is it both? They were all together during JB's waning years, I would venture to say that as a coaching staff they have had close to a decade of decline. Hoping it was just JB getting old has proven to be a fallacy.

I’d put it more like 1/99. Gotta go 10-3, maybe 9-4. That includes Duke, UNC twice, Virginia, Louisville, and the rest are mostly ACC midpack.

I think 8-5 is out with this being *another* Q3.

I think we have the talent to beat anyone. But, Red has shown that he can consistently lose a big lead to an inferior team. We may be able to keep it close against better teams, but it's highly unlikely for us to be able to close it out due to coaching.

I’m not saying that I can deal with Autry any longer but I think this team will still accidentally win more games just on talent alone.

Technically no, but he endorsed him with a line of BS to the fans about being the best man for the job. If you were handcuffed and not able to actually do a real search and hire and had to lie, you should just resign before you do and say that garbage in March of 23.

IMHO, JB earned the right to overstay his welcome by his 40+ years of program excellence...warts and all. I was also on board w/ hiring Red and "keeping it in the family". Needless to say I, and alot of other people, was wrong. No more needs to be said- he's gotta go.

I knew last year was a lost season after the Youngstown State game. And we were 3-0 at that point.

But I was told, repeatedly, and with increasing dismissiveness, that the real issue was NIL.

Red simply isn’t capable of running a P4 program. He has no vision, he’s a disinterested fundraiser, he’s lousy at talent evaluation, he’s bad at preparing his team to play with purpose and focus, and he’s terrible at in game coaching.

Besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I’m just speaking in the context of how they can’t beat teams at the top of the league. I’m confident they will beat some of them. Just not at the volume of wins they need for the tournament.
