I know this is a little late, but went to the game this Saturday. It was also the first time I have seen the team play this year due to my job. Here is what I saw, and it may be pretty long:

1. Lets start with coaching. Offensively its a mess. Players dont know whats going on or where to line up, they are late on to the field, and generally disorganized all the way around. The coaches are not doing there job here on many different levels from the stupid penalties, the confusion with plays, the mismanagement of players, and sucky play calling. The only thing I can say is that there is a plan in place with their play calling. Case in point the reverse touchdown. They had set that up from early on in the first half, and I was just waiting for it to happen. The offense has the wrong philosophy for this team. The style is just wrong for the talent. Jerome Smith needs to touch the ball more early. Tight ends need to be used more. The passing game needs a middle ground slants, curls, crossing routes. Defensively though things are much better. The team knows what it was doing and did their jobs.

2. Quarterback is next. Hunt is not terrible, he is not good either. He doesnt have the touch or accuracy needed, but he did do a good job reading the plays. He knew when to run and when not too which was smart. Plus he can make something happen with his legs. This is a position that will only get better in the future, and I can live with that.

3. The running backs. J Smith needs to get more touches especially early in the game. When he gets going it opens everything up. PTG was clueless for most of the game. He was late for plays, was moving around, and missed holes. Second half was a little better especially the big run, but way way too many mental errors for a senior. I didnt really see any of the other backs, but I am hearing good things. This team needs to feed the backs more, its where the top talent is.

4. Tight ends or the 6th linemen. Non existent basically with the offense in the passing game and that has to change.

5. Wide recievers are the big problem. They cant catch, they dont get seperation, and the plays are not mde to really help them get free either. The talent is young with Estime looking like he could be a play maker, but he needs to work on his hands. Boyd needs to be used better then he was, the coaching staff needs to set him up with some plays designed for him. West is used wrong for his talents, he is not and never will be a good downfield threat. Get this many in a med range passing attack and he would do some better things. The only time he was really used for a route was on long passes. The rest of the recievers are blah.

6. Offensive line. Thought they did a solid job overall, much better then Wakes line thats for sure. All of them had decent games, and the running game could have been better if PTG hit the openings instead of going east west.

7. Defensive line. Bromely destroyed the Wake line. He had a sack, should have had another one a play earlier too. The center could not handle him early on as Bromely dominated him. The guard had to move closer to him to help block him, without much success. Plus he caused at least 1 penalty and probably more during the game. The ends were both solid too. Isiah had a great Interception, and Robinson got good pressure. You know your doing good when you chase the quarterback rushing only 3 men, and they did.

8. Linebackers made plays. Good group of players that I saw all three starters making plays in the backfield. I am beginning to think that D Davis could make a decent safety in the NFL These guys made plays all over the field and backfield.

9. Defensive backs. Reddish had a good stop on a deep ball. Whigham should of had an interception, and maybe a touchdown if he could have stayed on his feet. For the most part they werent bad, but they left to much open in the middle of the field. Still looking for more plays from these guys too.

Overall, this team has a lot to learn. It has talent to play with most teams, but I can see why they lost 56-0 last game. This team will be better next year, and is doing a solid job getting players that they need and want.

Saturday was the first time I can remember in a while that the WR's beat the DB's deep 3-5 times. If these plays are made half the time we win 24-0 at the worst. Hunt was serviceable and he has potential but he missed those throws and a couple of times didn't have the time.

I thought the DB's were brilliant. Maybe the competition but they played as well as I expected them to do all year. Everyone in pass coverage did very well.

Hunkie Charlie not scoring broke my heart. I want the guy to get 6.

I agree with the pass patterns or passing scheme I don't get it and don't see it as using the resources as well as they should.

The only times I saw the middle open in the 10-12 yard range was when we blitzed. LB's can't be in two places at once. When you blitz that is the chance you take. If you send one more than they can block that is one less in coverage. They did a good job of forcing Price out of the pocket and he sucked on the move. I am sure that was part of the D game plan.
