For all you guys who were gonna call in - JBs weekly show is now live

I like Matt as the bball radio guy, think he does a fairly good job. For football he's death, I defy you to listen to him and the other dude and have any semblance of what is happening, it's unlistenable. I haven't listened to the coaches show in decades but he's not the guy to play off of JB. He kept veering off into weird areas and bringing up stuff unrelated to the topic at hand. Brutal.
I know there's drama/politics behind it but I would give anything for Doug Logan to somehow return to being the Voice of the Orange.

Mark "right between the eyes" Johnson was great, on the call for the 03 championship season

What Basketball too! When he calls it on radio I think he literally thinks the people listening can see what is happening somehow. I had to listen to part of the Miami game on the radio and Edwards took two free throws and he just talked about his development and whatnot and NEVER mentioned if the foul shots actually went in! It’s stuff like that for the whole game.
I have had to listen in the car and had no clue what was going on

Wasn't PH's best season shooting one in which he played a lot of SG?

Shot .469 in 2007-08 when Andy and Devo were hurt, but made 11-34 threes.

Shot .494 in 2008-09, but only made 10-44 threes.

He was a pretty efficient scorer.

I will say that he does at least provide an appropriate high level of energy during big moments, which is extremely important.

Is that from memory?

Seriously, though — you guys remember stuff in such detail. I can barely remember what I had for dinner two nights ago.

When will people start to realize this isn’t about just the Virginia game the other night or the 20 point loss to pitt the other day. It’s about the 7 year trend of the basketball program. This isn’t a one year thing. This is a TREND!!!

Some of these comments by jimmy are ludicrous. I think he says things hoping that people just agree with what he says or go along with what he says to change the narrative. Because I honestly do not understand why else he would say this stuff.

Also, it’s not a good look when you are telling people we better buy a lottery ticket if you thought we could win. I see unranked teams beat top 5 teams. It’s not quite the anomaly he makes it out to be. Yes it doesn’t happen all the time, but it is not the rarity he makes it out to be either.

Optics matter. I have no issue with being straight up about it and admitting the opponent is a good team. But you've got to at least make an attempt to say we expect to win every game we play, we prepare to win every game, etc.

JB does have to say what the fan base wants to here.

Since 2014-15 the team has mastered mediocrity.

It's doubtful very many people across the country consider Syracuse a power.
Let alone in the ACC where they've been hard pressed to win any tournament games and make any kind of impact in the conference.

Before then, the Orange were a regular presence in the top 25.
Since then...notwithstanding the 2016 FF run...nothing special.
They've joined the ranks of UCLA...UConn...Indiana.
Once respected powers.

We can point the finger at NCAA sanctions.
But there's more to it than that.
And you certainly can't expect to beat the best-coached programs like Virginia if you go in expecting to lose.

I can both remember random Sports statistics(such as a player’s ppg average) and moments from 20-30 years ago, and also not remember what I had for dinner two nights ago.
