Attendance is way down for hoops games the past few years, really putting a damper on revenue I’m sure. Not saying I agree with the decision to have them bus, but if they don’t start winning (which will put fans back in the dome) quick this will only get worse. Everything is tied in with winning…more revenue, more NIL support, better recruiting, etc. Red’s gotta show he can coach these guys up or we are going to keep sliding down in visibility and importance as a program.

Keep in mind that the AD needs to find $20MM in direct payments to athletes and fund 60-100 additional scholarships ( out of 211 additional allowed in the sports in our portfolio) beginning in July. Only two potential approaches: Cut costs or increase revenue.
I am sure we are not alone.

Bingo. And some of it is coming from the school coffers vs athletics budget. It all has to come from somewhere.

Football also matters more for long term health of the AD budget at this point as it’ll be key to where the school ends up conference wise. If that means cutting costs in basketball, I get it. Don’t like it but I understand.

Regardless, there’s no world where Autry is gone after this year sans him doing something insane, and it has very little to do with contract or buyout. You don’t give an alum two years to fix years of stagnation. Three seems reasonable and fair.

I doubt they’re driving in buses next year with Kiyan though.

Interesting. The message I keep getting is that all money is going toward player salaries and funding revenue sharing, and very little else matters. Guess they’re making the program fund the extra stuff on its own.

I got to say the Chancellor has got to be much more savvy and with it than he looks. It just sounds like he’s built lots of adversaries amongst the student body and faculties over the years and the academic rankings and national prestige of the school for various reasons continues to drop. Yet he is still here and not sure there is any signs of him leaving anytime soon.

Yeah I think the bus thing is a bad look but the guy who made this program what it was also made it what it currently is. Red is an awesome guy and hopefully can turn things around but he doesn’t generate excitement(like Fran has) so that makes a stale program even more stale in this NIL age

Work with what you have. Copeland and Cuffe were/are good enough PGs to steer this team into the tournament Red decided they sucked and we almost lost to Cornell/Colgate/LeMoyne/Younstown St because of Carlos getting worked every possession.

I don't really care about the arms race we still get good players its not like we are surrounded by competing major conference basketball programs.
