Fran Brown Coaching Staff

Staffs are allowed 1 HC and 10 assistants; 11 total.

Georgia actually split Linebackers; OLB and ILB each have seperate coaches.

Here are the splits and titles for the guys FB has worked under:

Georgia
HC
OC/QB
Co-DC
DC/ILB
WR /passing game coordinator
RB /run game coordinator
DB
AHC/TE
OL
DL
OLB

*Georgia doesn't list special teams under Coaches.
-Their Special Teams Coordinator is listed under Support Staff as well as a Special Teams Analyst, and Quality Control Special Teams. So they are skirting the rules here someone.

*side note - Georgia actually lists sponsorship in two coaching titles>

John and Alice Sands Offensive Coordinator - Quarterbacks Coach
Fain & Billy Slaughter Defensive Coordinator - Inside Linebackers

Nebraska
HC
AHC/DC
OC
STC
RB
Secondary/Defensive Pass Game Coordinator
LB
DL
TE
WR
OL

*note here - Ruhle does not list a QB coach

Rutgers
HC
OC/QB
DC
CB
LB
S
DL
TE
WR
RB
OL

*note here - Schiano doesn't list any Special Teams in his entire operation; coaches or support staff
Thanks for putting that together. I'd venture a guess that it'll depend on the coaches strengths regarding certain duel/double duties as well.

CBS Sports Coaching Hire grades:

This is a big jump for Brown, going from a position coach to a head coach in a Power Five conference. It's going to be a tall order for Brown to succeed early on, especially in the expanded ACC. However, the New Jersey native is currently ranked as the top recruiter in the nation, according to 247Sports, and finished No. 8 last year. He will help the Orange replenish that roster through high school recruiting and the transfer portal. Grade: B-

Good bad indifferent, judging draft picks, coaching hire, or a trade immediately after is a fools game as long as time.

The only grade to give this right now is an A+ and ONLY because of the life it breathed into the program. We have no idea if they will work out on the field until we do. And you can’t grade it until we know how it worked out. It’s impossible. B-, + or A+ is all hogwash on 12/8/23. Talk to me on 12/8/24 and we’ll have a better idea. But really 12/8/26 is the actual test.

Yeah, Ithaca Matt...you nailed it.
I was one singing the praise of this year's('23) coaching staff.
But as the season wore on, some things became obvious.
Shrader's injury(s) showed CDRW hadn't been "coached up".
Injuries showed the 1) lack of talent(depth) and 2) too few players were
developing physically to come off the bench and play at a P5 level.

Late in the year, Villari made the remark that the culture needed to change.
I think over the next 18 months, we're going to hear the sound of some "mass construction"
preceded by some serious demolition up on "the hill".

Brown and Co. has arrived.
Oh, great! All Syracuse needs right now is more construction!

Yeah. I think Robinson will help on DL as well. Fran with secondary, so does he just add a LB coach on D?

ST coach

Offense:
Nixon - OC
Johnson - WR?
Nunzio - TE?
QB?
OL - Addazzio?

Is Redd an actual WR coach just titled Assistant WR coach?

We have five or six positions still to fill, right?
ST
LB
QB
RB (or does Nixon assume that with OC duties?)
OL
WR / TE?
My thoughts…

OC/RB Nixon He has always coached RBs and does a great job at it. OC needs to coach another position
QB Glenn Thomas? Was QB coach at Baylor w/ Nixon. On Steeler’s staff but lame duck with Canada firing
WR Johnson This appears to be confirmed now with Coach Johnson out recruiting
TE Campanile He could coach pretty much anywhere but he knows this group and continuity is good
OL ?

DC/DT Robinson
DE Williams
LB
CB Smoke Pierre?
S

Georgia and Rutgers don’t have a special teams coordinator position per we. I think we will have one but it will be an analyst position to get around the 10 assistant coach limitation like Georgia does.

I thought Coach Fisher might be retained as the CB coach but there have been no indications this is happening.

I think Coach Reed is an assistant WR coach and will help Coach Johnson. He and Coach Thomas are out recruiting now because we don’t have a full staff yet. Coach Thomas may or may not fill out of the open coaching spots above,

Guessing Smoke Pierre is going to be an assistant. If he is, I think he might get assigned to the CBs. I think Coach Brown will give that role to an inexperienced coach since it was his role and he knows he an help bring the new coach up to speed personally there.

I think if Coach Addazio was coming here, he would have been announced by now.

The Heid’s Hot Dog Touchdown Celebration Coordinator?
OK your turn.
Little Caesar's Back in the day:

Also, Mike Hopkins floor burns for Band-Aid

Well said. I agree; just passing along info from the swamp.

This was a great summary! Any new thoughts on who the remaining coaches will be? Your post is the only post I’ve seen that consolidates everyone, so thanks!! I follow the board closely but things are happening so fast it’s hard to keep up!!

Some time in Florida as well. I'm assuming that is Lake Worth, Florida (about 40 minutes north of Miami).
Williams has also coached at the high school level, spending two years at Lake Worth High School from 2012-14 after beginning his collegiate coaching career with stops at Florida Atlantic, Findlay, Gardner Webb, and North Greenville College from 1996-2011.
