We have a legacy recruit from E Hall, Caden Brown, who apparently wants to take an OV. Early signing period is 12/20 for 72 hours. Also, the transfer portal opens 12/4 for 30 days. For a HC who is going to have an enormous learning curve for a program very unlike Georgia, I would want the guy I hired to start right away and be 100% invested. These dates matter.

Everyone that is interested in playing for Cuse or Fran Brown knows the situation. The portal doesn’t close in 24 hours. There’s going to be like 7000 kids in it

Part of the reason I don't care that he's working at Georgia longer is that the first year is never put together the way the new coaches like.

There is no way marrone wanted to run a bubble screen fest with rob Spence but what could he do, he needed to put someone in. Then you spend that year getting your ducks in a row.

You don't end up with Pariani as a coordinator if there are lots of options

Next year is going to stink and that's not a criticism of anyone, it's just what we should reasonably expect from hiring someone who can't bring his whole staff along. As long as the decision was made knowing that tradeoff...

That's why I've been saying he has to bring in a transformative recruiting class this year. Next year he will be recruiting against his record and that's likely to be very bad. If he brings in a class this year that shows a clear jump in Syracuse recruiting, he could sell that next year. This is his shot, if he fails he won't likely get another, and it's a humongous undertaking. Times a wastin'.

You make the best long term coaching decision you can make not necessarily what works best over the first week

It really is as simple as this^^. His start date was a negotiated detail of the contract and part of what it took to get Brown. I would imagine he is fully on the clock at midnight following the Bama game. That also doesn't preclude him from working every waking hour on both jobs up until that point.

Why worry and complain about stuff you have zero control over? We got our man. He is going to hit the ground running with urgency. He probably already is...

Seems bizarre he would knowingly hamstring himself from the very get go, but this is so Syracuse that it makes sense
