I don’t buy this for a second.. you can “throw” a game and still not set records in both college football and SU in a loss. This was beyond embarrassing.

We are the 1st team on college football “ever” to be losing 21-0 without the opponent’s offense getting on the field.

Worst loss since 1800 something.

This was not even ugly. I never thought we could get worse than GRob but Fran said, hold my beer.

What a joke. You can’t throw something you have zero chance of winning.

Fran i guess decided to play the young guys... I'm not sure what exactly you learn or benefit from playing ND at ND with bunch of freshmen. Getting destroyed on national tv doesn't help anyone. All you're doing as a coach is sinking the SU reputation even more.

This is an internet message board for hard core emotional fans. Fran is being paid millions to win football games. College sports is no longer amateur athletics. It is pro sports. Calling the coach of a team that is responsible for the biggest loss in the history of the school a clown is not out of line in any way, shape, or form. I didn’t say he beats his wife or embezzled from the athletic department. That would be offensive.

My personal opinion is that Fran is an above average recruiter - at least for Syracuse - and not much of and X’s and O’s guy. He started a walk on LAX player at the most important position versus the toughest opponent on the schedule. That is clown worthy.

He has had two recruiting classes and has failed to Develop a Competent QB2. He deserves credit for bringing in good QB1 but unless he starts winning, no other stellar QB1s will sniff this place.

He should get credit for being 10-3 last with Dino’s stars (Pena, Gadsden, Allen) and winning the lottery with McCord and Meeks.

Should he be fired, no. Should he be criticized for this dumpster fire of a season. Yes.

I've tossed my preseason mags but I'm 99% sure last year's was bottom half ACC. At the end of the day it's highly likely this year's will be too (although right now 247 Sports has us rated 5th in the ACC).

Fran is a good fit for Syracuse, as he has energy and recruiting has picked up. But, he is a first time head coach and his assistant coaches are not helping him enough. He needs to rethink all of his assistants and perhaps hire a former head coach to help him. If you look at 247, Syracuse has the 34th ranked roster talent this year, so what has happened this season has to fall on coaching including talent evaluation.

Admittedly, he stepped into it by getting McCord, and he did a great job getting Angelini. Rikki seemed like a decent backup plan, nobody thought he would end up being that bad.

Next year may well be the tipping point one way or the other assuming Angelini comes all the way back.

My biggest disappointment has been the D, but even then it is hard to evaluate when the O keeps putting them back on the field.

The reality is that we will never by a consistent Top 25 program. Success here should be to get to a bowl game and maybe a Top 25 cameo once in awhile.

That seems more likely IMO with a SR led Mora type HC than a Primetime like one.

I like Fran, I think he’s the guy for this job. That being said he is a first time coach in year 2 going through a lot of adversity this year for the first time. There was virtually no adversity last year

I don’t agree with some of things he says or does. And I think Fran needs to have a look in the mirror after this season and get right. He needs to make some changes. He needs to hit the portal hard, cut bait with a few players on the roster. Cut bait with Elijah and Dale Williams.

He’s made ALOT of mistakes this year coaching wise and management wise. He’s still got a lot of learning to do. Good thing about Fran is he wants to learn and he’s hungry to win. Next season is going to tell us ALOT. Another season like this and he’s gotta be gone after next season. If he has another season like last year, he’ll get an extension and we might be able to draw up this year as a fluke

I’ve hesitated from posting so I can decompress a bit.

Coach Mac won 2 games his second year. Those 2 wins came from Rutgers and Colgate. Guy was 6-15 through his first 2 years. Over the next 4 seasons he went 6-5, 6-5, 7-4, and 5-6. 6 years, 30-36. If he was fired after his 6th year, he’s an uninspired footnote in Syracuse history.

You can add whatever context you want but I’d argue the job is extraordinarily more difficult now. I guess my point is, yesterday sucked. This season sucked. But when I take a step back and look at the last two years… Alum relations are better than they (I have seen) been in a very long time. We have re-established recruiting connections in our home state and across the east coast. Up until recently we’ve been talked about on a national level in a (mostly) positive light, from people who used to joke about not knowing we still had a football program. We had a lot of momentum and a lot of positive energy surrounding the program, that we, honestly, haven’t really had in my lifetime (I’m 35 and yes Donavan McNabb and company took place during my lifetime but I was too young to really understand/appreciate).

When I look back and read about Coach Mac’s tenure as SUHC, I realize it takes time and patience to build. So, to me, the question really becomes, do I think/believe HCFB is the right guy to exercise that patience?

I’m still betting on Fran Brown.

I’m a huge Marcus Freeman fan. Marcus also has unlimited resources. Marcus team also has lost to two G5 schools since taking over. We have the right guy if the goal is to elevate the program with better talent and more resources. I think that is still the plan. We probably don’t have the right guy if we expect Fran to do more with less with goals to be a middling 6 win bowl bound team being the ceiling. That’s really the reality of the situation.
