Yes -- complete because he also began to make moves and finish. Something he could not do (and did not try to do) earlier in his career.Sure was - wouldn't have happened without him. He played some of the most complete -- and restrained -- basketball of his career during that span.
Not a TC hater. He played b/c JB didn't have other options, and he contributed despite not having elite (NBA-level) talent. Against UNC he was a man-possessed. Maybe I'm too conservative, but off the court, not perfect:Cooney was frustrating because the coaching staff never had an option to cut back his minutes. His usage rate was too high. Kid never did anything off the court to be unlikable.
Frank is lucky JB is a lot more forgiving than others.
Cooney doesn’t deserve this comp.
I always find it funny when people say they want to mix program kids with 1 and 2 year kids because when the program kids are here they get attached for the things they aren't good at. Then after they are gone we talk exclusively about their 4th or 5th year in our system. Trevor and Frank are no different. They can join Christmas, Southerland, Rautins and whole host of others. I remember people saying it's so frustrating why can't Southerland take it to the hoop. Well if he could drive to go along with his ability to shoot from 3 at 6'8" he would be Carmelo. I remember people talking about Rak leaving the program going into his junior year because we needed to recruit over him as he would never figure it out. Now it seems all people remember is his senior year. Part of having program kids is that they aren't going to give significant contributions year 1 and 2. Then they will do meaningful stuff the last year or two.

The thing is the last year of a Southerland, Rautins, Triche, or Rak are better than the first years of one and dones such as Mal, McCullough, or Donte Greene. I don't think thats debatable.
It's funny look at this picture. James Southerland is one of the most likable guys. He is always funny and I think really was liked by everybody. I still remember after the UVA game while he was being interviewed Southerland kissed JB on the top of the head and laughed and everyone was cracking up. I feel like a lot of that had to happen. Guys like that are important. You needs guys that are basketball focused people to keep everyone driving to get better. I would say that is Battle but we don't a universally respected funny break the ice guy. MM is probably the closest thing. If we had I wonder if the Geno thing would have gone different. Not a TC hater. He played b/c JB didn't have other options, and he contributed despite not having elite (NBA-level) talent. I remember my cousin called me up after the Marquettte game and we were cracking up about Southerland kissing the top of JB’s head in that interview. Hilarious. Even Verne was laughing.I don't remember that kiss at all, not that I'm disputing it happened. I'll have to see if that's on the youtube. Just the visual in my mind is cracking me up.
Trevor definitely protected the ball better, he was as good a defender, and a better shooter.
Just because frank has better athleticism it does not mean that he does everything better.
And that is not to mention attitude. Trevor had an impeccable attitude.
