Frank "The Tank" Martin In Tears?

I just watched his post game presser, I know he gets on kids during the games, but i would send my kid to play for him any day. He's an emotional dude, but he does love his kids. Now i am sure other coaches do as well, but the guy seems genuine, unlike lets say someone like that coach at UK.

I'm tired of his Sgt. Carter schtick...even if he is sincere.

He seemed like a very decent guy in both the pre-game and post game presser. It's the unibrow that makes him look crazy when he's angry.

That...or it could be the psychotic look on his face.<this.

i kept waiting all game for the frank booth medicine mask act and was "frank"ly disappointed

Frank Martin was actually really likable in the pre game presser. Had glowing things to say about SU. Repeatedly referred to JB as "Bo" which I have never heard before and was quite funny.

Indeed.

It's very interesting how people will attempt to assess one's being from a far, without knowing an individual, etc. In any event, his positive comments on JB and his program came across more than sincere. Saying that SU is a program that he enjoys to watch (one he's a fan of) because of how they win, a systematic approach over the years, and, with JB not only at the helm, but at the heart of their success.

Systematic approach? That can't be. JB just rolls out the balls and lets 'em play. And I heard he doesn't even roll out the balls himself anymore.

Well, maybe not systematic per se, but he was certainly paying compliment due to JB's style and system...SU clearly is a system program.

I like him actually

Yeah. I hate bullies, but now I gotta rethink a bit on Frank Martin. He wasn't blowing a gasket at his guys yesterday because they were trying hard and his team was just outclassed on the floor. He does seem to care about his players; he's just a tough SOB. In the end, it was a great coaching job by JB (Lavin was the only commentator who picked up on this) in the second half to take the fight to the rebounders and get them in foul trouble.-VBOF

What does Frank Martin know about basketball anyway? He doesn't post on this board.

I know. Was just being a wiseass.

I give Martin credit for openly showing his emotions and the fact he cares so much for his players. I really don't know much about him and I have to say that his default facial expression is one which pretty much strikes fear into you. Looks can be decieving and in listening to the things he said and his praise of our program I was wrong in my assumptions about him.

He's proven to be a good coach who has the admiration of his players. At one point he mentions, (to paraphrase) "I'm all about / or/ I love kids". I have no problem giving him a pass in that his team just lost and he has empathy for his senior player who could not play in what turned out to be thier final game of the season.

He is to be commended for exhibiting grace in defeat. I guess that's too much to ask of some here on this board who can't muster that even in victory.
