FSU Postgame

Where are all the posters that don't want JJ on the team next year?
Lets not act like he played some great game. There were some incredible boneheaded plays by him today that kept FSU close and it took 23 shots to get 27 points. At the end of the day your shooting guard needs to be able to shoot. He was the best player for two teams today.

JJ would be good to have back, but we need a couple dependable shooters, a really good PG and a really good Center. JJ was good tonight because we were good inside, and that opened things up for him, drew the defenders' bigs to Eddie and the Bruiser.
JJ is going to get a large bag next year.If not from us then some team is going to make him a young millionaire.

I'm in shock we actually held on for the win. Looked like 6 other games this season where we have a double digit lead half way through the 2nd half and manage to make enough mistakes to lose.
Still think Red's substitutions make no sense and aren't made to react to what is happening on the floor. It's almost like he just has these substitutions scripted based on the clock.
I'm glad we got to experience a rare ACCT win.

I have been critical of JJ iso ball. Today it worked. I hope we build a lead every game and it works every game. If not, I hope we are quick to recognize it isn't working and go to something else.

He was very quick getting around the corner. When he can do that, he's very likely to finish. He doesn't have the body control of Judah, who was kind of herky jerky. But he's fast as hell on the dribble drive.

I am fine with JJ not on the team next year. In fact, I think the guy he was guarding just scored again. And nice free throw shooting. If he is an 18 minute a game guy … maybe

I was encouraged by two left handed attempts. Also, he was able to go right a couple of times. If a team is dumb enough to let him go right, he should attack that every time.

Ha ha, yes, he was "the best player for the two teams today", other than that he shot 52% from the field. Can't wait for the other JJ haters to chip in.

Well, let's keep it real. JJ has some really, really bad plays on offense and defense tonight, plus shot really poorly down the stretch from the foul line, who wants to have the ball in his hands at the end of games.

I used to think he gave more effort defending the drive, but honestly, people get the shoulder past him SO easily, like every time, Yes, he follows the dribbler closely, but he let him get basket side way too easily. It's already too late. He already has the angle on you.

And like a couple of those turnovers, like the one by himself on the sideline? OMG. I just shook my head.

So, like I said before: he would be a good guy to have back next year, but on a shorter leash, and surrounded by 3 players who are better than him - a Center, a really good PG who can make the 3, and a proven SF/PF who can light it up.

Great post! I'm with you 100% on this.

There is a price for JJ, and he should be about the 4th highest paid player on next year's team. We need to find 3 starters in the portal, maybe 4 if we can't keep Donnie.

And at least 2 of them have to be quality 3 point shooters, and the C has to be able to score in the low post, as well as rebound and protect the rim. Jesse Edwards is the minimum we are looking for this summer.

If JJ can accept being a complementary player, like Chris Bell appeared to down the stretch, then he could be really useful next year. If he has to be the main man, then let him take a bigger bag. He's not good enough to be "the man" on a tournament team.

Good take, BTW he outscored every other player in the game today by 8 pts.
