Interesting as Sala said they were going with the "sawtooth" design. That sure looks like a sawtooth to me.

Wow I had no idea they were going with this design. I thought they were going with the pitched roof design with the press box on a new 3rd level.

My question - how can they build this new roof over the existing roof given the same structural supports so they don't disrupt any FB or BB games?

Sure looks like they are not planning on expanding the concourses on the north and south sides of the facility. There will be no new concourse on the third level either.

It will be a really strange look with an uber modern roof, some open walls and a huge expanse of drag concrete on the sides. Hope they decide to address this in a phase 2 project down the road.
But hey, we'll get some flashy new crabapple trees on the north and south sides. Obviously cheaper than opening things up. Sigh.

They still might, this is only one group's rendering and the post has since been removed from their website.

Remember...they might be restructuring the Food Spots...maybe some will move to create more space. I could see the food stations moving under the 3rd deck overhang and remove some bad seating.
Even if they do that it's going to feel like the old section on the north and south sides. Food vendors being moved would help some, but it's still going to feel like an Alcatraz cell block alley.

Just what I hear. I expect a less symmetrical design without such a heavy Archbold connection and (though it's difficult to see in this rendering) different loading/parking orientation at the Raynor/Irving intersection.

heavy archbold connection/incorporation was one of the first and most prominent things I heard last year.

Yeah, me too. Everything from joining the two buildings as one and using the current north Archbold entrance as a Quad-front gate to the stadium. But I hear this has been scaled back.

By "layperson" you mean most of us?

Yes. But there are definitely some very knowledgeable folks on here. I am not one... anything I have learned is through osmosis. ;)

I'm a little shocked some of you experts weren't pegged to design and execute this renovation.

Anybody other than me assuming the people involved know more than we do?

True... but I was thinking what would a lay person call this "look".
Lay people call it whatever they want. When I've looked at plans with my architect, he calls each look an "Elevation".

I am still hoping for a call from SU. I have some good ideas for roof design and the right alloy for all the bolts.
You can do everything but the re-naming, XC. ;) And btw, you're on an absolute roll today.

It looks to me that the hotel/escalator side has a new built-out section. With this and the other build-out, couldn't you push vendors and the like into both new areas and out of the concourses? This frees up a ton of room.

I would say "pleated" but there is fair likelihood the final product will look very similar to this.
