Just reading this in the Zags article has to make you feeel super confident

Guerrier enjoyed his time at Syracuse and felt a strong bond with several players, including Canadian native Oshae Brissett. He is being recruited by head coach Jim Boeheim as well as assistant Red Autry.

“To be honest, I enjoyed my visit,” he said. “I had a good relationship with the coaches and the players. I knew some players because they had Oshae, Tyus [Battle], Buddy [Boeheim] and Howard Washington. I feel comfortable right now with Syracuse.”

With Battle having tested the NBA Draft waters and then returning to campus, Guerrier could slide in at the wing position in 2019.

He also visited Oregon earlier this month. The Ducks have also produced many Canadian products, and currently have freshman Abu Kigab.

“The same thing, pretty much,” he said. “But I don’t feel comfortable like I feel comfortable with the [Syrcause] players. My relationship with the players from Syracuse was better than with Oregon.”
At least there’s no question the players are welcoming recruits to join the battle.(get it?) No more of that Quade Green crap. We are rolling like a perfect storm

Not that I know many people in this world, but one guy I do know (NBA) suggested that when Cal first got there, the bag stuff was pretty heavy, but once he got established it tapered down quite a bit.

Now, what I don't know, and have started to suspect, is that the bags were still flowing, but they were less booster related and more third party interests (sneaker) related.

Most of the big name schools favor a three-prong approach where it comes down to combination between booster money, shoe company money, and agent money. The FBI so far has only looked at shoe company money (and some interaction with the agents, obviously). From what I understood back when I was covering recruiting closely, booster money was actually bigger and more pervasive - shoe companies target smaller groups of higher end guys because they want a return on investment. Mr. Rich donor just wants to wins games. Just because a kid is ranked #100 doesn't mean there isn't bidding for him between schools as well.

And football is probably still way worse. Hard to believe that Cuse got killed for lousy Xmas cards with $50 or whatever it was in them from a certain booster.

Worth the quick read...I think the ONLY thing Illinois has that they may try and sell Q on is to come in right away and get big minutes. Otherwise I cant see them being a threat...so I guess if he wants that playing time this year then that's his best option.

Illini target Guerrier stopping in C-U this weekend
Illinois not even home for football this weekend. Five point favorite at Rutgers. Wow. Not a lot of points.

This kills me...they always have tons of fans show up to their practice facilities to greet the recruits and make it look good during their visit. We dont need to have fans come to the melo center...

This article indicates that Illinois has hinted that Quincy could start or be a leader on the team THIS season. I hope that's not enough to sway him because I think he'd start next year for sure at Syracuse. Interesting read...

Geez that would rule them out if it were me. You can come in mid season and we’re so bad that you can join late and still get big minutes.

I’d want to go someplace where I felt like I had a reasonable chance to win.

They really haven't done much since Deron Williams/Dee Brown. No NCAA appearances in six seasons.

Yeah I mean he could join a 8-6 team that is going nowhere... Just doesn't make sense.

I hope Quincy realizes that the immediate starting/playing time this season offered by Illinois is a sign of lack of surrounding talent. It seems pretty obvious to us... will it be to him? My gut says we're gonna win this one.

Redshirting next semester is not SU's plan. He can come to SU and play this year. He has expressed the desire to redshirt the spring semester, then have 4 full years of eligibility.
I think more athletes should consider doing this. Get a semester under your belt, academically, socially and athletically.
The down side is missing out on some HS social benchmarks.

I don't think I implied it would be Quincy's deciding factor, but the Illinois fans certainly seemed disappointed by the showing. I choose to view it positively!!!

Hopefully that will be their convenient excuse that they tell themselves so they can feel better about their program, just like UConn fans blaming their “loaded backcourt” for scaring off Jalen Carey. (Still cracking up about that one)

That one is news to me hahahahaha

I thought that's what a Gray shirt was but I guess it's a Green shirt according to this article.
