Game 1 Depth Chart / Game Notes | Tennessee

Outside of 2 O-line spots and kicker we know who the starting guys will be. I’m interested in seeing who they put as the 4 defensive end with David O, David Reese and Jacques being 3 guys.

Look, we can love Fran while acknowledging that HCs in general are paranoid weirdo meatheads and not a single one of them is capable of overcoming all of the associated tendencies that come with those characteristics every time.
I’d love to hear a reporter ask “what advantages or disadvantages do you stand to gain or lose by releasing or not releasing pre game depth chart?”

The answer would be nonsense, but I’d be interested in hearing Fran try to make a case for this.

Was it also mentioned that Josh Heupel has more chins than a... wait, I don't think I can use that joke anymore.

Well anyway, he has a lot of chins.
That’s means he is very nervous about this game, that’s my interpretation anyways

I'd rather we not ask Fran that.

Let's allow ourselves room to believe he's different.

I hate to read into it, but on page 16 there is individual notes on offense and mysteriously noted these 5 lineman in order:

LT: Weatherspoon
LG: J. Cruz
C: Collins
RG: TJ Ferguson
RT: Trevion Mack
That does look like it’s presented as a depth chart. Given who is listed and same with the defensive notes

The OL missing on that page was Rice which I thought was interesting.

Embarrassing by both schools. Thought we as a program got through this nonsense. I guess not.
I dont mind it, especially if Tennessee isn't releasing one either.

Its small, but say TJ Ferguson is starting for us. They'd have time to hone in on his tape from Florida State last year and see how he was beaten. At the very least it forces Tennessee to do that as well as prepare for the other options on the line. Very minimal gain but its still something

Can we just be honest with each other here? The only reason we want a depth chart is to debate things on here between now and Saturday. All this strategy and otherwise talk is really just masked as all of us wanting one.

Ding!

This video from 2:09 on has clips from some of the closed scrimmages if anyone wants to dissect it

IPF Scrimmage clips
LT Mack
LG Ferguson
C Collins
RG Cruz
RT Spoon

Clip in the dome goes
LT Mack
LG Ferguson
C Miller
RG Cruz
RT Pringle

Weatherspoon is locked in at right tackle and Collins is locked in at center. Ferguson is gonna start at one of the guards. I know coaches like Mack at left tackle. And if one guard spots available it’s most likely Cruz. Pringle will probably be a swing tackle. Rice will backup a guard spot and so will Byron Washington. Miller backup center.
