Gerry McNamara needs to be the next coach

I really don't know why this needs to be explained. I guess it’s just because people have a soft spot for Gerry, but one good season in one of the worst leagues in the country does not make you qualified to be the coach at Syracuse.

How about this, if GMax takes the Saints to the Sweet 16 he should be under consideration for HC at Syracuse.

I’m happy he’s turned Siena around, but let’s not pretend that means he can do the same at Syracuse. The program needs a fresh direction away from JB. It’s the right move for everyone to move the program in a new direction with a new vision completely detached from Boeheim’s legacy.

He's been my choice for next head coach here since the middle of this season. I wanted him as HC three years ago but I get the fact he might have been too green then.

Yep, I mean it’s become a no-brainer. Look at the facts, put the emotions aside. Seven players in the active roster, and he still accomplished what they just did.

Kids entire life he has been a winner. Now he’s mature and know longer a kid as that post game interview showed.

He would go to the ends of the Earth, working his arse off to make this place a winner again with the emotion/connection/history and legacy...

USF is 49

The leagues and programs aren’t comparable.

That is a shortsighted take. Certain people have the quality to succeed at any level they are at by utilizing the factors they have unique at that particular level

The best most recent example would be a guy like Curt Cincinnati at Indiana football. It would be tragic if we missed this opportunity.

AAC is by far a better conference than the MAAC

For sure. And I'd take a regular season conference winner over a conference tournament winner, even if the conference tournament winners are more fun. I was just hoping to break it down logically why BH is still the choice over GMac.

Too small a sample size on Baby Shark. The jury is still out. He could have a meteoric rise or flame out spectacularly. He is high risk for all the same reasons GMAC and Hop are. I’ll take GMAC or HOP all day before I would endorse Baby Shark. If I am going to make a high risk, it is going to be on a guy I know. And what if the next coach fails, god forbid????? I argue Baby Shark causes much more damage to the program and brand because his hiring will turn off existing stakeholders, alumni, and donors who are behind the Hop machine. If Baby Shark is hired and then loses his sugar daddy, we are irreparably damaged.

Yes. Opportunity knocks literally right now. He’s one of us.

After seeing what He has accomplished there in two years is an off the charts an amazing accomplishment, emblematic of a winner. This is a lightning in the bottle moment.

As I said elsewhere he has the “it“ factor for success at any level he finds himself at, just like Cignetti. Cignetti had to wait way too long for his moment, I think what Gerry is showing would translate to success here sooner, rather than later, and over the long-haul where he could potentially be a lifer here. A successful one at that.
