C’mon guys, look closer. Sure, he won 23 games. But 21 of them were Q4, where he was 21-4. Against Q3 2-6, vs Q1 0-1. That read like a record of someone ready to coach SU? Get real.
You can only beat the teams on your schedule.
He primarily played Q4, I think his only Q1 was against Indiana at Indiana.
Didnt even play Q2.
Once the team settled down after all the injuries, all the teams left were Q4 and a few Q3
I think it is ridiculous to use the NET to downgrade his coaching ability when he literally had no shot at getting a 125 or better NET unless he won every game on his schedule.
He could have had the greatest team in the history of the MAAC but Net would still look horrendous.
As we have learned, you need a lot of Quad 1 and Quad 2 wins, and by large margins, to get a good to great NET.
Listen, I know this is not the time to hire Gerry, unless they choose Hopkins and then I will have a meltdown,
but he has proven that he has the winning mentality and can develop a culture with a winning mentality.
BH appears to have that mentality too which is why I hope we get him but there is no reason to make it seem like BH is this winning prizefighter while GMAC is wrestling in the kiddie pool.
Winning is winning, and good coaching is good coaching, at any level in my humble opinion.
