Definitely. Add AO as a family hire and it’s a great group. He was one of the smartest players academically we have ever had and also played extremely smart. The fact that Gerry is bringing in some important, talented minds from outside the family is critical and very encouraging.
None of us have. Eerily quietI haven’t heard a word about it
We are gonna have a Gm right?None of us have. Eerily quiet

YesWe are gonna have a Gm right?
The bigs on Siena played fundamentally sound. Announcers during the Duke game commented how well coached and fundamentally sound. So - what exactly do we know about AO as a coach?
And why is he “the one” we want as a “family” hire?
As has been proven hundreds of times across college & pro sports -
The best performing athletes rarely make the best coaches.
Otherwise - why weren’t guys like Jordan and Gretzky GOATs when In coaching/ownership positions?
And FWIW - I think Rick Jackson was actually a more skilled Big than AO was.
He is a good bigs coach. We need that.So - what exactly do we know about AO as a coach?

In the very limited games I saw, the Siena big men played smart, like AO did. He's not a typical athlete-becomes-coach, in my opinion. He was a big guy who wasn't that tall and couldn't really jump, yet he played much bigger and smarter than his natural skills would have suggested he would. So - what exactly do we know about AO as a coach?

“A big guy who wasn’t tall”…6’9 isn’t tall enough in college? In the very limited games I saw, the Siena big men played smart, like AO did. He's not a typical athlete-becomes-coach, in my opinion. AO is somewhat quiet but has the makings of a good coach. Folefac wasn't supposed to be the starting center but did well when pressed into starting duties. Mulvey played limited minutes, but when asked to play starters minutes down the stretch, he responded admirably. A very nice passer, and also really helped the team by staying out of foul trouble. In the very limited games I saw, the Siena big men played smart, like AO did. And AO ups the staff's rapper quotient. Great collab on Unfinished Business.Definitely. Add AO as a family hire and it’s a great group. He was one of the smartest players academically we have ever had and also played extremely smart.
I just meant he was a 6'9" center who didn't really jump but had a ton of blocks and great post moves. But at least you're not personally attacking me this time.“A big guy who wasn’t tall”…6’9 isn’t tall enough in college?
“Yet he played much bigger”…So he was 6’9 260 in college but he played like what 7’2 325?
Help me understand your logic.

I guess I am remembering incorrectly. In my mind, he was limited in terms of his sheer athletic ability. It always struck me as him playing smarter than the opposing center which is why I think he would make a good coach. I am not sure I am disagreeing with anyone here.Uh, except - he didn’t.

148 blocks in 134 games = 1.1 blocks/game.
His best season was 53 swats in 38 games = 1.4 / game.
AO lands at #15 all-time at Cuse for career blocks.
Baye “the Matrix” Keita is just ahead of him.

While he was absolutely a defensive presence at the 5,
swatting shots wasn’t the main feature of him being so.
I'm just getting told this now. I feel blindsightedTo clear one name off the GM table, I am announcing that "If nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve”.
Gerry thinks AO is a genius at teaching big men. Really. And he has worked with him. After what we have had for big men coaches, I will happily sign up for that.So - what exactly do we know about AO as a coach?
And why is he “the one” we want as a “family” hire?

Okay, I just checked. I wasn't completely imagining it.Uh, except - he didn’t.
