Go Johnnies Go!!!

Pitino is showing us why it is so important for us to get it right with selecting our next coach. A legit coach can build a team from scratch with or without star players and make it work. For all of the success and great programs they ran/run, Coaches Knight, Izzo, Huggins, Boeheim, Sampson and Few did it mostly because of their coaching and not with teams loaded with star players or attempting to build NBA farm programs.

Nothing against Pitino as he’s a HOFer, but it also helps to have an alum with deep pockets who loves basketball.

True. But, if we hire the right coach who gets the program going in the right direction, the pockets will open.

Last I looked, we don't have a region.
I was obviously talking if I was a team that made the tourney, believe me I remember paying the bill for my donations and tickets and watching a $*#% product all season to realize we didn’t make the Tourney.

Yup. Cuse would never want a coach of Pitino's ilk.
This played out well for us. They'll be a top 4 seed and well, we are what we are...irrelevant and sitting home. Gotta get this right with a new coach or we sink deeper into the sewer

Exactly. He's great but his sugar daddy is a perfect example for us. Pay the money, get some limelight and get out of the way.

A lot of blue bloods have been to two final fours and go 25 years without a tournament win.
That impressive first round win over Omaha last year reaffirmed their Blue Blood status, just ask any St. John's "fan" who came out of the sewers after being in hiding since the turn of the millennium. Hopefully the “greatest coach of all time” can find a way to get past a 10 seed in the tournament this time around.

These teams are so much better than we are it’s insane. Depressing actually.
you can see the impact of coaching throughout a season...5 months is a long time to learn

thats why SU could hang with Houston early in the year - that was without much coaching

in february, after all of the coaching has taken effect, SU got blown out by everyone
