Go over to Tiger Droppings...

i disagree, most real fans appreciate the effort of the opposing team, in games like this. sure they would hate us if we won. we are no different. penalties DID PLAY A ROLE, that does not negate how hard our guys play. all in all apparently it was great experience for them and us. how does one take that away? god i hate rookies that try to make a mountain from nothing. we played a great game ---move on from that, build on that and most of all appreciate what you saw and where we may going. most of all respect miles and lf
Rookie? I hope you're not calling me a rookie. I've been on every form of this board back to the '90s, been a fan for a lot longer than that. I'm not sure what got you all riled, I said it was interesting to see their reactions from before the game to after. Shows we are improving, when we get under another team's skin. Your right, penalties played a part. How many were pass interference and blatant holds? Those are injuries of frustration, trying to stop a team from making a big play. So even in that case, I think SU was in part responsible for their penalty issues.

Learn some reading comprehension, before trying to flame someone.

Just a wee bit. He's fine, though. Was out to dinner with his cousin's wife and friends after the game.
Good to hear he's doing fine. Has he always wore a knee brace?

Btw, I hope they went to an all you can eat buffet ;-) I can't imagine how much chow Steven puts away at any given sitting.

One team predicted to win by 28 wins by 10.
And those penalties weren't just 5 yard penalties they caused punts for them and first downs for us.
They were very key.
Two wide receivers lined up a half yard behind the line of scrimmage on the sideline of the other side of the field resulting in a 5o yard run play that went the other direction and it gets called back.
Makes some sense to me.

As a fan I like teams we beat more then the ones we lose to.
For example I always preferred playing ND WVU in basketball to at Pitt.

Its all part of a program being spoiled or hoping to become better. I know as a basketball fan if JB goes out without another title I will be disappointed. That is probably how LSU feels in football. Auburn and Bama have gone down all the more desire for them at this point. And I always liked LSU Go Tigers!

OP nailed it exactly. LSU fans are great before the game and terrible after.
Not exactly true...I stopped posting there a two weeks ago as a significant minority were arrogant jackholes in the threads I was helping them with tailgate and travel advice... I figure they were young or T-shirt fans...but I don't take kindly getting my team disrespected when I'm spending my time to answer their questions.

i sat on the end of the LSU section. At the beginning of the game I said to 1 of them our only chance was if Fournette tweaked a Hammy. He and his wife stopped dead in their tracks "he has a daughter, he's a college kid, yada yada yada"

In my head I was like, lighten up I said tweak a hammy and it was an obvious joke anyway. But to them I just ignored it and kept talking about how he was the best player in the country.

Another dorky southern fan in his 50's who took it entirely too seriously (I probably hate him because i figure thats how I;ll look when Im in my 50s) got really pissed on the late hit call at the end of the game on Mahoney. For some reason he looked directly at me and said "thats horse "

I responded: Yeah, up 17 with a minute 30 to go trying to knock out the knees of our 5th string qb 3 yards ob. horses hit.

They aren't quite as nice and cordial as they were before the game. That's what happens when you play the top teams tough, they get pissed off. One of them told orange in va to off over an innocent comment that our team is maybe better than they thought.

LSU fans believe that game was as close as it was because of:

A) penalties
B) coaching

Had nothing to do with the opponent that played them, it had everything to do with them. If (as an opposing fan) you say "hey we're pretty good" they say "BS, we would have CRUSHED you if not for..."

Sounds a lot like our Syracuse basketball board. It's always an SU issue, and never has anything to do with how the other team imposed their will.

They were kind because they thought we were a sacrificial lamb, and because we don't play them much. If we played them yearly and played them tough, they would hate us.

In their minds, regardless of the outcome yesterday, we suck, because we have sucked for a long time. I personally think this game says more about us, than it does about them. That's just me being a fan though I guess!

They did not like me going over there...lol.

Everyone was super nice leading up to the game. After we played them close, not so much.

Still, a couple folks there stood up for me, but overall I got downvoted and insulted by most of them.

Never judge a village by its idiots. They typically represent a vocal minority. LSU fans I know were impressed with your team in all aspects and appreciate a good game.

Probably right...I know the type who hurl the disrespect...I hope to make a trip to Red Stick in '17.

There is a better than 80% chance you will be treated as an honored guest. There is a 100% chance you'll be called "Tiger Bait." There's a 0.003% chance your grandmother will be assaulted and you'll be hit in the face with a mythical urine-filled balloon. There is a better than 90% chance you'll eat things you didn't know were edible (best not to ask - just eat it - it will be delicious). Also a 100% chance it will be a trip you will never forget...one way or the other. ;-)

Agreed...we played at Tulane a few years ago. Always awesome to visit LA.

Pretty sure LSU wasn't penalized any more so than usual. Will go back and compare.
Yeah maybe but the away team brings their conference refs, I don't think the calls that were made were out of line.

tigerdroppings is a typical fan based chat forum. I've been a member on that site for almost a decade, and rarely post any comments. I don't pretend to be an expert, but rather just a very passionate fan.. You are correct with most of your analysis. However, please keep it in perspective. Most of the posters on that site are young, and probably very intoxicated when they make their posts. I disregard most of what is said. However, there are many posters who know football, and although they be blunt in what they say, they are good people and mean no harm. My advice is just to laugh most of it off, and learn from the posters who actually know what they are talking about. It's pretty easy to distinguish between the two. You are also reading post from fans that believe LSU should win a national championship every year! It's just not realistic. Anyway, don't let it get to you. There are great Tiger fans, and then there are just plain morons out there as well. And as someone else posted, this is typical of just about any fan base! My advise is to just take it in stride, be glad football season is back, and let's have a hell of a lot fun while it's here!
Respectively,
TigerinOhio

us LSU fans hate Tom Ritter. When his crew is on our game, we ALWAYS end up with much more penalty yardage than our season average.
