But those NC State players in the middle of it are getting squished!

Rush the Court ‏@rushthecourt
Good court coverage by the NC State fans

Good move by Coach K to get all his players off the court before the game ended. I'm surprised more coaches don't do that in that situation - you're putting your players at risk having them getting swarmed by a thousand fans like Mufasa in the Lion King.

And with conference season upon us, here comes the first of several judgmental Court Storming threads. Was it good? Was it bad? Was it pathetic or embarassing? Is the program beyond that? Was the opponent good enough to be stormed against? Who is Syracuse allowed to storm against - if any? And I can't wait for the comments on how improper court stormings reflect poorly on the youth of today.

And then of course there is the safety factor which should be the only real consideration in this matter.

Coach K scoped out his escape with time left. Smart. Our next door neighbor's son scored a last second winning touchdown in a high school game. His teammates, then fans all jumped on him in the end zone, crushing him. He broke his leg in 2 places and couldn't play basketball the next year(he was on the varsity team too) and never played football again after his sophomore year. Always spooks me seeing masses of humanity rushing players etc.

It always amuses me here how some people judge court stormings for how it makes the program looks... and yet don't care at all about the obvious safety issue such as the one you bring up.

This is one thing the SEC does right. No court stormings period.

Yow! I like court stormings myself but no one wants anyone to be hurt. Terrible injury!

So, you assume just because someone posts about a court-storming they "don't care at all about the obvious safety issue"? That's quite the leap, IMO.

There are 3 steps to a good court storming:

1) Get the away team off the court quickly
2) Get the players up on the scorer's table with security keeping the fans from getting up there.
3) Student section only should rush the court and go buck freaking wild

*4) Syracuse fans should never ever rush the court because no Syracuse basketball home victory is a big enough upset to warrant it. Are we unranked and the opponent is an undefeated #1? Don't rush. They didn't have a chance of winning in the first place, don't let them think they did. Is it Georgetown in a last second win? Don't rush. Georgetown should be disrespected at every opportunity and rushing the court would signify that we think they don't suck (same for UConn). Is it Jim Boeheim's final home game ever? Go insane and burn the mother effer down!

That is not at all what I said. Please don't put words in my mouth then use them to attack me.

It was OK. But they are at a severe disadvantage. Im not being biased, but Syracuse is easily the best place to rush the court. It fills up significantly faster. It takes NC State about a minute to do what Syracuse did vs Gtown in about 5 seconds. Just law of physics.

Well, when you say "It always amuses me here how some people judge court stormings for how it makes the program looks... and yet don't care at all about the obvious safety issue such as the one you bring up. ", that IS what you said. No one was putting words in your mouth but you.

There was no attack on you, unless you consider someone disagreeing with you attacking you. I don't consider "That's quite the leap, IMO." an 'attack', but if you do, apologies.

I hope we storm the court tonight.

DID YOU MISS THE SOME?

If I say something, I will stand by what I said. If I said what you claimed I said, I would stand by it and defend that position.

Anyone remember when we stormed the court after a win vs. WVU 7-8 years ago. I have to say, that was embarrassing.

Weren't they ranked in like the #8-#13 range, but we were their third loss in a row before new rankings came out?

I didn't miss anything. Assuming anyone doesn't doesn't care about the safety issue is, to me, a huge leap. I'm done. Peace.

I've court stormed @ UVa... After beating Maryland, when we were unranked, unheralded and kept them from getting into the dance, I think... hell yes, I celebrated... as did a thousand others... but in a controlled manner... didn't get in the other teams face, as that's just moronic and ignorant as well as inflammatory and reason to have yourself mauled by players... guess it depends upon the people, but given the thought, most will probably do something stupid... hard to say...
