At this point, everyone that’s eligible has had an opportunity to get vaccinated and boosted.

There should be no mask requirement at this point.

The people wearing masks correctly are generally wearing N95 masks that protect them.

The ones that aren’t, are wearing the cheap basic masks that just slightly stop the spread.

Lift it for vaccinated fans and strongly recommend.

Unvaccinated masks required

ISO ball has been the name of the game for so long, I assume he does nothing different. It just looks a lot different when being done by a player with the name Boeheim on the back than, say, Anthony.
Looks different in a lot of ways

In New York a very high percentage, I'd wager over 90%, have either been vaccinated, had Covid, or both. The few who haven't if they get sick I have no sympathy.

So, the subset of those 10% who are immune-compromised and/or have other health issues that preclude them from being vaccinated, or are still at high risk even if vaccinated -

just FFF them all?
sorry sickly people, sucks to be you. yolo!!

There are those who are not attending because of having to wear masks.

There are those who will not attend if the mask mandates were to be lifted tomorrow.

I say the former group tend to be younger, the latter group probably older, more concerned about catching it.

Besides the head count, the masks also inhibit loud cheating and screaming. I put on a mask for an indoor face to face meeting where I had to talk to a bunch of people around a conference table. 20 minutes in the inside of the mask is moist and heavy, just from the talking. Once that happens it gets very uncomfortable, it also fogs up the glasses for those who wear them. You can't tell LGO at the top of your lungs ten times before the mask gets soggy. It definitely mute the home crowd to some degree, on top of affecting attendance.

“Besides the head count, the masks also inhibit loud cheating”

I’d argue mask wearing increases cheating as you are already in a disguise

I think most people switch once they get it and realize it didn’t kill them
I was mask man number 1 from the jump of this thing .. had legit N95s that 1 wore religiously if going to grocery store etc.. legit fear of this thing . After vaccination and boosting… I don’t mask anymore because to me the very low risk is outweighed by the general reduction of life quality the mask poses. Everyone needs to do their own calculus. Mandates at this point of plummeting infection rates due to people having had it and / or being vaccinated , don’t make sense

I sat next to a guy at the FSU game last month, and 3 days later he tells me that he's sick.

I had to get tested, my brother and his g/ had to get tested, and we had to take our 93 year old father to get tested (since we both were in contact with him).

Every one of us tested negative.

By the way, both myself and my brother and my friend at the FSU game all wore masks.

It's all the proof I need.
Well, I am vaccinated, boostered and have had the antibodies injection because I have MS. I had to travel for business so I would wear my mask everywhere. Still got covid from the airport on the way home. Told my doctor I wore a mask everywhere and he said it doesn't matter they don't really work anyway.

I know for a fact that some people aren't going because of the mask mandate. Sure its not a majority of people, but its a sizeable chunk. There is no need for the University to be in direct conflict with where the state is on this...the masks need to go.
I don't care too much either way on the masks, but to be clear, it's not in direct conflict with the state. The state lifted the mask mandate (because of a lawsuit, btw), but private entities are allowed to require masks.

Curious, How about SC schools? I’m in SC right now and there are no masks worn anywhere, none. You couldn’t even buy one in a store if you wanted

I’ve been in Tennessee for a week, for every 1 person wearing a mask indoors there’s a 100 not. All store or restaurant employees seem to be masked but no one else. I’ve been in some crazy crowded places too. My son‘s college campus was supposed to lift the mask mandate today but I’m not sure they did.

At this point so many people have had it, it just doesn’t much matter anymore.

MSG makes masks required only for unvaccinated. If vaccinated, they are recommended but not required.
Yeah right. If anything, it’s a policy and this guy is in charge of enforcing it.

Pre-that. I think it was Packer and Durham and they took the standard line at the time and JB pushed back, saying he was never within 20 feet of his professors back in the day, kids want to play, etc...those two looked honestly surprised.

He can. But he’s been on both sides of this fairly alienating issue. Better to just say “we do what we are told”
Both sides as in in favor of masks when it was much more dangerous before the vaccine and not in favor now?

It's the same side, mask when it makes sense

Our basketball "arena" is a little more unique than others. Yes, it's indoors, but a lot more room for the air to go.

At this point asking a fully vaccinated or negative tested person to wear one, take it off while eating or drinking, then put it back on, seems more than a little ridiculous.

Unless, of course, that person wants to. Should be a choice.

At some point we have to decide when to stop inconveniencing the general public for the small percentage of folks who have health issues and can’t get vaccinated. I mean if you have health issues that prohibit you from getting vaccinated you probably shouldn’t be going to a game with 15-20k people, a crowded restaurant, busy grocery store, etc.

Why can't he talk about real life too?
He should, but not in a news conference about basketball. If guys that are 5'2" are voided from knowing anything about basketball, guys that have never performed healthcare are voided from commenting in a press conference on health and safety.

The BC website says they are still required and they added that as of 1/15 only vaccinated fans will be allowed.

Most university’s are the same way. You can’t look at them the same way you do a wegmans or a restaurant etc. That PS article says 10 ACC schools require masks when it’s actually 12 by my count. There’s a reason universities are more cautious. BC doesn’t even allow for negative tests.
