At some point we have to decide when to stop inconveniencing the general public for the small percentage of folks who have health issues and can’t get vaccinated. I mean if you have health issues that prohibit you from getting vaccinated you probably shouldn’t be going to a game with 15-20k people, a crowded restaurant, busy grocery store, etc.
Spot on. If you’re immune compromised, sorry but it does suck to be you. The rest of the world needs to move on - take care of yourself, avoid crowded areas, etc. But it’s not up to the rest of the world to keep you sheltered and protected. It’s not sustainable.

They dont police it anyway. The last couple games ive been at I just take it off as soon as I get in. The usher will hold up a little sign that says "mask up" or whatever but does nothing about it.

I was all for masks, vaccines and such about a year ago. But the ship has long since sailed. I do occasionally miss hiding my ugly mug though.

I don't necessarily agree or disagree with your take or any here really.

But as far as "it sucks to be you". Lets hope you or anyone you are close to, maybe your kids, or to be kids, or mother, or even YOU isn't immune compromised and stuck inside due to something like this even again.

Have a feeling your take away wouldn't be "sucks to be you"

He should, but not in a news conference about basketball. If guys that are 5'2" arw voided from knowing anything about basketball, guys that have never performed healthcare are voided from commenting in a press conference on health and safety.

Fair. Probably too harsh of a phrase, but I was more responding to a previous post where those words were mentioned. But if I was unfortunate enough to have that problem, I wouldn’t expect the entire world to stop just to protect me (or others around me). In 2020 it made sense because we didn’t know what we were dealing with. In 2022, it doesn’t anymore. We need to move on.

I sat next to a guy at the FSU game last month, and 3 days later he tells me that he's sick.

I had to get tested, my brother and his g/ had to get tested, and we had to take our 93 year old father to get tested (since we both were in contact with him).

Every one of us tested negative.

By the way, both myself and my brother and my friend at the FSU game all wore masks.

It's all the proof I need.
Proof of what? That your mask worked? Or that your vaccine worked? Or that you already had Covid and didn’t know it because you were asymptomatic? Or that you were just lucky? Or that your friend at the game didn’t have Covid three days earlier? Or that he wasn’t contagious at that stage?

You're talking about Knicks fans that still pack MSG-
That makes their decision-making questionable.

Sorry, the Knicks' return to incompetence this season has been dispiriting.
May be dispiriting to you but I love it.

Most university’s are the same way. You can’t look at them the same way you do a wegmans or a restaurant etc. That PS article says 10 ACC schools require masks when it’s actually 12 by my count. There’s a reason universities are more cautious. BC doesn’t even allow for negative tests.

Syracuse is a private institution. They could look at the Dome and say we're exempting it from the indoor policy based on its size.

I don't think they ever would, but there's nothing stopping them from doing it.

They've decided again like football season to have a policy they won't enforce.

Now enforcement is a whole other story.

Both sides as in in favor of masks when it was much more dangerous before the vaccine and not in favor now?

It's the same side, mask when it makes sense
When it makes sense is a matter of debate. Far Eastern countries, such as S Korea and Japan, had substantial percentages of their populace masking pre-Covid. And they have had substantially lower levels of infection--not solely because of masking, of course.

Masking is a mitigation method, most useful when in enclosed spaces among crowds. As with everything in life, there are tradeoffs. But the presence of such a highly infectious agent should make everyone consider not just their own health and safety, but also that of those around them.

As to JB--he has appeared to be quite uncomfortable with wearing a mask from the very beginning. Jimmy Durante Syndrome, I would guess.

I'm afraid that ship has long sailed, at least in America.

At this point they serve no purpose. The woman in front of me could be eating ice cream at the dome and doesn't have to wear it, but because I am not eating anything I do. It's all a show.
My daughter attended a game the day before she suddenly got ill and tested positive. She wore a BN95 the whole time. It’s more than show, although I do understand what you are saying.

Seems to me you are giving your age away when you mention Jimmy Durante. I doubt that many of the SU team would even recognize the name since the Schnoz died over 40 years ago.

I'll consider it before not caring about people too stupid to get vaccinated or too compromised to be in big crowds

Anyone that compromised who thinks that masks actually protect them has deficiencies will beyond their immune system

Boeheim is a very smart and intuitive man

Pre-that. I think it was Packer and Durham and they took the standard line at the time and JB pushed back, saying he was never within 20 feet of his professors back in the day, kids want to play, etc...those two looked honestly surprised.
I don’t care what his position is honestly (I share the position). I just think the basketball coach should worry more about the stinky product on the floor than playing immunologist. Maybe the fans wear masks to cover up the smell. I honestly can’t believe he described the game as hard fought are whatever as though we are all not aware how bad the product is.

well at least the story is getting play beyond the sports page
I can see the headlines now “Coach who murders people with his car now wants everyone to die watching him coach basketball.” Onion articles write themselves
