Well, Doug nailed it and he wasn't unlikeable in how he said it
wait...you mean other schools are recruiting against “daddy ball”. Those were Dougs words.
weird that he didn’t bring up this message board
Lol. That was amazing and shows the reality of what our assistants are up against.wait...you mean other schools are recruiting against “daddy ball”. Those were Dougs words.

JB is really smart at getting his spin in the press. The best part are the sound bites that JB keeps feeding the media that plays right into the narrative. So it’s not only that it’s daddy ball, it’s not only that we’re having a bad year, it’s that JB trashing Benny and Jesse is just the absolute gasoline on the already bad fire.

The local media can’t question him because they need access.
But anyone objective sees what he says is to prevent second guessing.
Our assistants have terrible jobs that require them to be yes men and do a lot of the good cop routines.
Gottlieb is a jack wagon but his analysis was spot on.
It isn’t the way it used to be, every conference used to be top heavy with big players, like us. Now you’re seeing schools that nobody paid attention to in the 80s and 90s who have built great programs, there is a lot more competition than there was.If you’re watch the full segment, Goodman was talking about post-JB and said Syracuse isn’t an easy place to recruit to?!?? Is he serious?? And don’t give me the weather nonsense. It’s colder at every other Big 10 school and no different than most Big East schools. Lansing, Michigan; Ames, Iowa; Omaha Nebraska; Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois. All these places are frozen tundra in the winter. And we’re much much closer (half day driving distance) to all the Northeast recruiting hubs, from New England to NYC/NJ, Philly to the DMV. And recruits can play in the largest arena in the country in front of the biggest crowds, with a fan base that travels all over. Goodman says his own daughter might go there! Guess it can’t be that bad.
seriously...a 1st year coach has Iowa State in the Top 15. They were 2-21 overall, and 0-18 in conference play last year.If you’re watch the full segment, Goodman was talking about post-JB and said Syracuse isn’t an easy place to recruit to?!?? he may call in to a radio show (national, of course) tomorrow, to present his spin. We're all gonna need A LOT of popcorn at the next post game presser.
I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this point. I will acknowledge that there are newer recruiting hotbeds, like Texas, that are now producing more great players than they ever did before, and that’s probably helped the SEC a bit. But the recent recruiting successes of Nova, UConn and Maryland is proof that you can still succeed as a Northeast recruiting power if you have the right player-friendly coach who’s willing to engage. We’re the only P5 program in the Northeast that has top 10 resources in basketball and the corresponding prestige and historical success. It isn’t the way it used to be, every conference used to be top heavy with big players, like us. The Melo Center is awesome, while it used to be a pillar, every single one of our peer schools are right there with us.
The dome, when you are at or close to capacity it’s amazing, when it’s not, I’m not sure it’s an asset that most think it is.
Exactly. The right coach can make Syracuse a top tier ACC program, just like JB did for decades in the Big East.seriously...a 1st year coach has Iowa State in the Top 15. They were 2-21 overall, and 0-18 in conference play last year.
Yeah and Spokane isn’t exactly a jewel of the northwest, but Few is sure reeling them in of late. Kids want to go to winners. Top recruits might not be there more than 9-10 months.seriously...a 1st year coach has Iowa State in the Top 15. They were 2-21 overall, and 0-18 in conference play last year.
That’s why when we finally get JB out it has to be a clean cut and get some fresh blood in here. This is the definition of a stale program .Yeah. I can’t imagine what it’s like for the assistants. Can’t be easy.
But at some point, you have to understand what JB is and if you then stay on, I mean, that’s on them, right?
Red and GMac know what to expect at this point. They are part of the machine.
