Goodman didn't explicitly say weather was the reason SU is a tough place to recruit.
He could have meant that it's a dull, decaying city...who knows?
But are weather or the nature of the city really reasons a recruit goes to a particular school?
Isn't it really about the coach, the players, the resources, the level of competition and the way he sees himself fitting in and being able to develop?
Perhaps, also, the distance from home.
Those seem to be the important factors.
So which one(s) is (are) responsible for recent recruiting woes?
It may be unfair to cite just one case...but:
Here's what Dior Johnson said...quote is from Inside the Loud House. Truncation is mine.
Johnson said that he had a “great” relationship with the Orange assistant coaches, “but it wasn’t the same relationship with the whole program...I wanted to have a real close relationship (with) my head coach and have it be like how we are talking on the phone right now. You know, coach calls me, I call him before I come and stuff just building a great relationship and getting to know each other. I don’t know if I had that over there but I don’t want to take anything away from anybody.”
