Guess who is currently 17th in total revenue in 2013

Interesting. The biggest issue the football program has is a lack of big donors as well as mid level donors, these factories have private donors as well as state money for facilities but the donors spend and spend big because seeing Old State U win is a big priority for them. People waiting for Syracuse to flip a switch internally, it's never going to happen unless the University unearths someone who has a bunch of money and has Syracuse football winning games as a priority. Syracuse has proven that they will spend 2 mil to look for the right coach but that seems to be the mendoza line, either you hire cheap and eventually pay that type of money to retain ( hopefully) or hire a proven coach. This lack of big donors is a big reason why even next year you might see Shafer fired if he has another losing season. Stanford, UCLA probably had donors willing to foot the bill for getting rid of coaches, much like Stanford probably has a donor writing a 7 figure check to their swimming program. People act as if the University is writing the checks for all of these moves, which in a round about way I guess they are

What about that guy who was first to put his season ticket deposit down for next year's season football tix? (they announced it at the game, it was funny). I think we should be hitting him up for 6-7 figures.

No doubt!!! He can have my tickets for next year too. I am morphing into one of those season ticket holders that shows up wearing silver to home games. I need a bigger leaf blower

I don't even care if it's for Shafer. Use it for the assistant salary pool. Building a strong support staff is huge now a days. An extra $150k can get you a lot.

Not if that 150K is allocated donor specific for say soccer or women's lax, if there is a donor out there that wants to write a 150K check for the women's lax team what is the university going to say? No?

I think the other thing that SU does NOT have, that many of the factories do, is a small number of freelance boosters (not attached to their programs at all) who just show up out of nowhere and pay potential recruits more money than they have ever seen in their lives. Remember the twitter pics of kids holding handfuls of Benjamins?

I just got a letter in the mail last week asking for a donation to anything I wanted whether it be a specific sport, the general athletic fund or any of the specific projects. Heck, the Melo Center is still listed so it must not be paid off yet.

Exactly.
